暑月将至，香港中文大学（深圳）高等金融研究院2017年新生招录工作也即将步入尾声，部分优秀的同学已手持OFFER，期待着暑期课程的到来。为增进大家对SFI的进一步深入了解，我们特别采访了几位2017级新生以及2016级的师兄师姐，推出《带你认识深高金同学》系列推文，分为金融学（MSF）、经济学（MSE）、会计学（MSA）三个篇章，今天是第一辑——《带你认识深高金MSF同学们》。一起来领略金融学理学硕士项目同学们的风采吧！

邓人可 - MSF2017级新生

Hello everyone, I am Renke Deng. I am glad to meet you guys through the public account of our university on Wechat. First of all, I would like to introduce myself. I was born in Nanchang City, but I have grown up in Shenzhen since I was three years old. With the support of my parents, I began my seven years’ study in the United States when I just finished the first year’s learning in Shenzhen Senior High School. After graduating from the Drexel University majoring in BS Math, located in the Philadelphia, PA, United States, I have been a formal employee of Essence International Securities (HK) Limited in Hong Kong.

Traveling is one of my favorite interests. I have traveled through most main cities located in both western and eastern coach of the United States. Also, because of the requirements of high school in the US, among Wrestling, Rolling, Lacrosse, Badminton, Table Tennis, crewing, etc., running is my favorite sport, which is able to improve people’s endurance and perseverance. Even I am currently working in Hong Kong; I keep running every Sunday morning with my friends for practice in Shenzhen. And almost every Sunday afternoon, I play badminton with my colleagues of Essence. In addition, I also love music. I am good at electronic organ, and I have got Level nine certificate in the field of electronic organ.

According to my future career plan, I wish to be a financial expert, especially in the field of asset management. In my definition, finance is the combination of risk, exchange, financing and asset management. To achieve my goal of creating the wealth and being engaged in the jobs with further professional skills, it is necessary for me to abandon myself with further more knowledge about what the pragmatic aspect of finance is. I consider that will turn my passion into concrete abilities.

I feel that university is certainly the next logical step for me. And It is my hope that my academic achievements and demonstrated initiative will earn me an opportunity to enroll in the Master of Finance Program. That is the reason that I give up my current job and make the decision to engage in advanced studies. And it is really my fortune and pleasure to study with all of you, working together, to make both ourselves and the SFI “Great Again”! I am looking forward to see all of you again at campus soon!

李素伟 - MSF2017级新生

I am Amber, Li suwei. I graduated from Renmin University with a degree in management. Besides finishing major courses, I also minored financial courses to broad the scope of professional knowledge. I have the ability to stay focused in stressful situations. In my deep heart, future work that allows me to apply theoretical knowledge will satisfy me the most and I am aspiring to engage in the field of equity and fund management. So I might choose Investment and Trading as my concentration and study plan. Whatever it is I will grow up to be an application-oriented Talent that can handle problems among the current industry. Shenzhen as the dynamic capital of China, beautiful scenery and unique architecture all attract me to live and study there. I can’t wait to see my new friends and I hope we will have a nice trip. I am fond of movie,music and physical fitness so I wish to find new friends who have the same interests. I hope we will try our best to study and live up to our expectation. Three passions, simple but overwhelmingly strong, have governed my life: the longing for love, the search for knowledge, and unbearable pity for the suffering of mankind.

张发荣 - MSF2017级新生

Hello, everyone! I’m Zhang Farong. I got my bachelor degree from Zhejiang University majored in Physics. It is since the course financial engineering when I took interest in finance. The combination of financial theories and scientific method attracted me to involve myself into the field, so I determined to take the finance program in CUHKSZ to get further study in financial theories as well as more advanced quantitative skills. I plan to take the career path in fixed income department which is a very interesting and basic part of finance. As the saying goes, to know about the rate is to know about the financial system. I believe CUHKSZ with powerful academic resources and industrial practitioners will give me comprehensive trainings which include academic theories, real-world applications and international perspectives to enable me qualified and competitive candidate to pursue my finance career. Moreover, I’m looking forward to meeting new friends here who I will discuss real-world financial issues and build team work together with. We will help each other to get better and it’s no doubt that we will enjoy a meaningful and unregretful experience in CUHKSZ.

Hi, everyone! My name is Lily Wang. I graduated from Central University of Finance and Economics, majored in Finance in 2014. After graduation, I worked full-time in CMS as an Investment Consultant. I witnessed the craziest stock market crash, hence gained skills and experience. But I still believe that I need to further enrich my knowledge of finance systematically, and to have a clear plan for future career life. I expect to go back to financial industry as a better me, so I choose to come to Shenzhen Finance Institute. I really look forward to meeting my new classmates, and spending a wonderful time of school life in SFI.

From my Bachelor program at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to my Master of Science in Finance Program at  the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). Shenzhen Finance Institute (SFI), I benefit from a well-established education array with consistent quality and shared mission.

My experience at the university and the institute has empowered me, enabling me to embrace innovation with tradition, to respect international diversity with profound Chinese cultural understanding, and to pursue excellence to serve. The Master of Science in Finance study program of SFI has not only enriched me with the established theories in finance by the most outstanding professors in the area, but also the most updating industry practices by excellent practitioners in finance. The synergies created by the combination of theories and industry dynamics in China highlight the uniqueness of this program.

Furthermore, the study covers the popular data analysis programming tools, from which I have learnt how to use VBA, R and Python in solving financial problems - a most practical skill in my future career.

Meanwhile, students are provided with plenty of internship opportunities. My internship in a hedge fund firm has equipped me with a profound exposure in the secondary market of China financial industry as well as fundamental insights on investment research and portfolio management. It will certainly become a precious tool in my future career.

I am privileged to be able to make friends with numerous potential young talents here. Studying and circulating with them have been inspiring and enriching.  I have also been given ample opportunities to meet with and learn from achieving practitioners and professors in the industry, from whom I was awarded with invaluable insights and knowledge.

何思宇 - MSF2016级学生

My name is Siyu He, I spent my college life in Northern California, loved the weather, beaches and sunlight. Shenzhen was the only place in China that has what I enjoyed in California with nice people and wonderful food. And I am honored to become one of the first students of Shenzhen Finance Institute (SFI). During the year, I have not only learned a plenty of knowledge that I was lack of when US education does not fully apply to China, I also met lots of talented classmates who are extremely hard-working and ambitious when they are all enthusiastic about Finance. I always wanted to work at a private equity investment company in Shenzhen, hence the practitioner workshop class of Primary Market Investment was extremely useful to me, I had done a full investment value research with my teammates and gained practical skills. I am now working at CICC-Qianhai Development Fund as an investment manager and I could easily adapt to the environment. And I will consistently work with my passion until I become the top in the industry one day. Because I always believe nothing stops me from getting what I want in life, there is always a way attached with efforts. I hope future SFI students will all find their ideal positions in the industry and gain invaluable knowledge and friendship in MSF program.

张学斌 - MSF2016级学生

I am honored and thankful to be the one among the first students of Shenzhen Finance Institute (SFI). During the MSF program, SFI students could have the best academic resources from CUHK and extremely useful knowledge from practitioner teachers, who are the leaders of prestigious financial firms. SFI focuses on the completion of curriculum design, and trains students to have solid analytical skills in finance. It also encourages students to plan on their occupational careers by providing resume advisory, interview training, internship recommendations etc.

So far, I have already completed courses in SFI, working at CICC for internship. I miss every day and every hour I spent with my hard-working teachers and ambitious classmates in SFI. I sincerely hope that all students in SFI will always remember what they are passionate about, and get what they want in life.

王逸曼 - MSF2016级学生

My life is a wandering travel, who met should be the beautiful accidents and I met SFI. With time goes by, it becomes a little bit hard to remember every moment in CUHKSZ. However, there was one thing for sure that being a member of SFI is the best choice for an oversea returnee.

Based on my “hard” experience in University of Waterloo, I finished all my courses within 8 months and I acquired knowledge in the higher level of financial, economics and accounting, which filled the gap of finance in my undergraduate mathematical studies. The first term, I equipped myself with some necessary skills and certificate. Since living in Canada so long, I found it difficult to readjust to life in China, SFI played a good bridge role for connection the English study and Chinese practice. This March, I started my job seeking and how lucky I am, all my applications are received satisfactory results. Recently, I am working at Qianhai FOF as a secretary in Investment Committee Department. In my daily work, many cases we encountered are very similar to the projects that I have done in school, so I did not have many pressures when I joined the team, which is much different with other newcomers without working skills during their studying period. Most of course/curriculum arrangements by SFI are project-based which helps students to acclimatize and adapt new working environment in advance and enrich the resume. Tutors in career center also gave me some suggestions to clear my career path when I received several offers from different financial-related companies before joining here.

Professional instructors, comfortable and harmonious campus-life and mainstream curriculums made me who I am today. I totally believed that SFI must be the best choice for you, especially the oversea returnees who have the similar experience with me. Please treasure the years of strengthening yourself.

It is a great pleasure to share with you my experience about course, intern and so on.

In the first place, I would like to talk about courses which I suppose you care most. There are 12 course in total, which consist of seven core courses and five electives. Core courses such as financial statement analysis, corporate finance are useful and basic for your future career. If you are interested in financial engineering, derivatives and quantitative portfolio analysis should be helpful. By the way, our core courses have a lot in common with CFA and FRM. Therefore, if you plan to take these exams, these course will be a good start. For the elective courses, they’re quite opened and practical. For example, you’ll have a chance to do projects with senior level practitioner in finance area if you choose the contemporary issue in Chinese financial system, which will be an excellent project experience in your resume.

In the second part, I want to share with you my experience in intern. First of all, you should keep in mind that intern experience and courses are equally important so you need to try hard to have some intern experience before graduation. Due to the fact that I only had two short-term intern experience which are all research direction, it may be too limited for you to make decision based on my experience. I can only tell you this: if you know exactly what kind of jobs you want, just do it; if you are not clear, you should try different interns until you find it. By the way, you are supposed to make the best use of resources provided by school to revise your resume, find interns and prepare interviews.

At last, it’s my great honor to share with you these. I wish you all can get what you want from here. Take your time and enjoy.
