Think promising new musicians, and Bulgaria may not be the first place that springs to mind. Yet the country’s deep traditions and long history have fed many a creative soul, and Ruth Koleva is definitely leading the current pack. Born into the hardship of post-Communist Eastern Europe, Koleva steadily worked to hone her raw musical gifts, developing into a genre-defying powerhouse artist, effortlessly channeling soul, jazz, R&B and indie-pop influences. Early in her career, she showcased her unique style in gigs at local venues and did a brief stint at the Hollywood Pop Academy. Her debut album RUTH scooped the top prize at the Bulgarian Radio Awards in 2014, with hit-making producer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse, Lady Gaga) declaring it “amazing”.

The power of Ruth Koleva’s music is subtle yet absorbing, rewarding those who spend time with it. Koleva’s versatility has led to collaborations on remixes with the cream of the global underground including Kaidi Tatham, DJ Spinna, Mark De Clive-Lowe, Eric Lau, Opolopo and Shuya Okino.
短短几年内，Koleva就成为保加利亚的国宝，并在国际上不断扩大她的粉丝群。她曾与爵士歌手Bobby McFerrin传奇人物同台演出，与N’Dambi志同道合者同台献艺，并与Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra在保加利亚国家音乐厅举办了两场音乐会，门票均售罄。Koleva的最新专辑《Confidence》于2018年春季发行。这张专辑的歌曲充满灵魂乐和当代爵士。它是由制作人Crooked Waters’ Kan Wakan操刀，并得到了Ron Avant（Anderson Paak）和Jameel Bruner（The Internet前成员）等音乐人的大力支持。
In just a few years, Koleva has become a national Bulgarian treasure and continues to expand her fan base internationally. She has shared the stage with legends like jazz vocalist Bobby McFerrin, wooed kindred spirits like N’Dambi and performed two sold-out concerts at Bulgaria Hall with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra. Released in the spring of 2018, Koleva’s newest album Confidence. Truth offers fans a deeply personal collection of songs rooted in soul and jazz with a contemporary twist. It was produced by Crooked Waters’ Kan Wakan and bolstered by tight band of musicians including Ron Avant (Anderson Paak) and Jameel Bruner (formerly of The Internet).
