You shall visit Bingzhongluo once you travel to Yunnan. Not as romantic as Lijiang, busy as Kunming, or beautiful as Dali, here you shall have something of an epiphany that humans live like tiny ants shuttling through daily moments while embracing free and beautiful souls.

It is the starting point of the Bingchacha Route, the eighth route to access to Tibet, where the villages are sequestered and have not been known and developed for tourism until recent years.

The countryside here maintains its original recipe and taste. Insofar, the piece of undeveloped virgin land marks the most primitive and secluded mysterious place in Yunnan. People are honest, kind and hospitable, and all the sceneries are pure and natural.

Here it will give you the unforgettable memories by touch of its mystery and reality. You are to enjoy and appreciate the glamour of the canyon and the snow mountain as well as the colorful ethic cultures. The countryside here maintains its original recipe and taste. Insofar, the piece of undeveloped virgin land marks the most primitive and secluded mysterious place in Yunnan. People are honest, kind and hospitable, and all the sceneries are pure and natural.

Remote Legacy – Derung River Township

Located in the back of the Nu River and on the northernmost part of Yunnan, the Derung River Township rests in the depths of Gaoligong Mountain, adjacent to Myanmar and Tibet. It is little known to the outside world, with the Derung, the ancient and isolated people living in there. The snow-capped mountains stretch away continuously, while the canyons grow with a steep posture. The Gaoligong Mountain on the east shields the gateway to the outside world, and the Dandanglika Mountain on the west, forms the natural barrier on the national border.

The Derung People • Face-tattooed Women

The vast Golgeong Mountain has been rearing the Derung people, the simple and honest ethnic group, with the abundance and freshness of the Derung River. In Derung language, this practice is called Baketu, which is an ancient custom remaining in the Derung group, an unsolved mystery insofar. The custom of face tattoo is originated from an ancient belief, which is commonly known as face painting and only women will follow this. It is obvious that the Derung face tattoo has been undergoing a long history when referring to the New Tang Annals on which they are called face-tattooed Pu people and the face-tattooed tribe on the Nanzhao Unofficial History.

 Meri Snow Mountain

Meri Snow Mountain is one of the four great mountains of Tibetan Buddhism, and is also the only virgin peak insofar. With the first golden light of Buddha shedding on the peak in the morning, the abundance of golden lights prevail over the whole Meri Snow Mountain, making it magnificent and spectacular like the gods showing up. This may explain why such a view of sunshine shedding on the golden mountain peculiar to Meri Snow Mountain attracts countless backpackers.

Wuli Village

It is a beautiful village on the hillside to the east of the Nu River, located where outside the Shimenguan and to the Qiunatong Bridge. In the eyes of architects, it is a magnificent architectural masterpiece. To this point, it is no exaggeration that it is named as the Swiss Pastoral Scenery in China.

Qiunatong

It is the last village in the northern part of the Nu River Grand Canyon, the most important part of it known as the back garden for all gods to play around. All the way on there is the dense virgin forests and many waterfalls, exposing you into the spectacular scenery when walking along the canyon.

Kantong Village

The Kantong Village is the most beautiful village in Bingzhongluo, which in the shape of a peninsula is surrounded by the U-shaped emerald-like Nu River in the white mist. Upon the coming of spring, all peach and rape flowers come into blossom, making it a paradise worthy the honor.

The Living Tea-Horse Road

In our times where the cities are well developed, the Tea-Horse Road in Yunnan is basically abandoned, leaving somehow the sound of horseshoe for people to recall the busy travelers and the horses carrying goods. Today, only on the route from Bingzhongluo to the southeastern area of Tibet come and go the horses. Started from Bingzhongluo, the route stretches northward along the canyon and the Nu River and reaches Zana where the Chawalong Township government of Chayu County in Linzhi Area in Tibet is located. It is both the ancient road connecting Yunnan and Tibet and the only unimpeded access of Chawarong to the outside world for years. Shimenguang and Naqialuo Canyon and other attractions are distributed along the route, where you will appreciate the ancient hoof mark and resonance lingering in the empty valley.

Stone Moon

A great piece of marble on the peak of 3300 meters high in the middle of Gaoligong Mountain carries a huge hole resulted from erosion. It has a pleasant name, the Stone Moon, already existing on earth since the beginning of the world as referring to the ancient flood myth of Lisuzu.

Laomudeng Christian Church

You will be exposed to a place of churches when visiting the Nu River. People say that there will be a church where there is a village. In Laomudeng Village which is at the foot of the Biluo Snow Mountain, there is the Laomudeng Christian Church. It is nothing surprising but where it is located adjacent to the pure river and the towering snow-capped mountains makes one feel more pious.

Moon Waterfall

30 kilometers away from the Derung RiverTownship there is the waterfall with a 120-meter drop and 40-meter width, carrying the strong water flow straightly into the Derung River. It is called Habayichen, which means the water dropping down from the moon.
