Statement about WEATHER

Chengdu has a foggy, relatively mild, basin climate. Summers feel hotter, winters feel colder, and the pollution seems worse due to the humidity. However many describe the climate of Chengdu as "pleasant", and it is, compared to the harshness of the surrounding mountain areas you might visit, like Jiuzhaigou and Mount Emei.

Xi'an weather is mild with four distinct seasons - a warm but variable spring, a torrid summer, a cool autumn, and a dry and chilly winter. The highest temperature occurs in July, 35 ~ 40 degree , while the coldest month is January, with the temperature low to -10 ~ -5 degree.

Statement about FOOD

If there's one thing Sichuan people do well, it's food, and nowhere is this more evident than in the province's capital Chengdu, where "a dozen restaurants can be found on every street". Whether you're looking to try some traditional hotpot or a simple noodle lunch, or fancy a break from the local oily fare, there's something for everyone in Chengdu

If you ask a local to recommmend Xi’an food, the first one they recommend most of the time is Crumbled Flatbread in Mutton Stew, which is also known as Yangrou Paomo. It is a soup dish that involves torn wheat flour flat bread, mutton and bean vermicelli.

Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding

Chengdu Panda Base was founded in 1987. It started with 6 giantpandas that were rescued from the wild. By 2008, it had 124 panda births, andthe captive panda population has grown to 83. Its stated goal is to "be aworld-class research facility, conservation education center, and internationaleducational tourism destination.

Leshan Giant Buddha

The Leshan Giant Buddhais a statue of Maitreya which is a Bodhisattva usually represented as a verystout monk with a broad smile on his face and with his naked breast and paunchexposed to view in sitting posture.Facingthe river, the Buddha has symmetrical posture and looks which have beenbeautifully captured in its solemn stillness. It is 71 meters (about 233 feet)high, and has 8.3-meter-long (about 27 feet) fingers. The 9-meter-wide (about30 feet) instep is big enough for one hundred people to sit on and the24-meter-wide (about 79 feet) shoulder is large enough to be a basketball playground. The statue makes itself the most renowned scenic spot in thatcity. In December, 1996, the location of the Buddha was included by UNESCOon the list of the World Heritage sites.

Begun in the year 713 inthe Tang Dynasty, and finished in the year 803, the statue took peoplemore than 90 years to carve. During these years, thousands of workers had expended their efforts and wisdom on the project. As the biggest carved stone Buddha in the world, the Giant Buddha is featured in poetry, song and story.Having such a long history and such worldwide fame, the renovation of the Buddha has received extensive attention both athome and abroad. The Buddha was nearly destroyed by the erosion of wind andrain before 1963 when the Chinese government began the repairing work. Atpresent, the maintenance work is in progress under the instruction of expertsfrom UNESCO.

Sichuan Hotpot

Sichuan Hot pot is atypical food cooking for Sichuan people and it has been famous around the China, one of the most famous variations is the Sichuan hotpot, to which Sichuan pepper is added. It is usual to use a variety of differentmeats as well as sliced mutton fillet. A Sichuan hotpot is markedly different from the types eaten in otherparts of China. Quite often the differences lie in the meats used, the type ofsoup base, and the sauces and condiments used to flavor themeat. The typical dipping sauce contains sesame oil and is mixed with crushed fresh garlic and chopped spring onions.

Chengdu delicious food

Sichuan on the tip of the tongue has collected the food of the streets and alleys of Sichuan. Sichuan cuisine has always been one of the classic cuisines of China, and it is famousfor its spicy world. Here, you can not only browse to see the Sichuan cuisine, but also the history and culture of Sichuan cuisine. China, with its5,000-year-old splendid culture, not only fascinates the world, but also has adelicious cuisine that makes the world linger.

Xi'an Terra cotta Army

In 221BC, a few years prior to the Roman Empire's engagement in the Second PunicWar with Carthage, Alexander the Great's Greek Empire had fallen apart, and theIndian Maurya Dynasty had faded leaving south Asia divided and at war, apowerful and prosperous dynasty was established in central China. This was the Qin, the first period of entire unification of China.

At that time, the dynasty was the most powerful state in the world with apopulation of 20 million and annual revenue worth 2000 kgs of silver. The powerful military and economic strength of the nation enabledthe completion of such a great wonder--the huge funerary project with numerous terracotta warriors guarding the First Qin Emperor's mausoleum. This giant project was stopped and buried underground since 208 BC.The determining factor of Qin State's transition from a small rather insignificantnation to the only power in the whole country was its strong army. The Xi'an Terracotta Army is a representation of the Qin State's troop formation with soldiers and chariots strategically arranged in the pits.

About 8,000 warriors, 100 chariots, 400 horses, and more than 100,000 weapons have been unearthed from the three pits so far. To the front of the formation are threerows of crossbowmen able to launch a long-range attack. The main force formedby infantry and chariots follows after. On the two sides of this formation isthe troop of cavalry designed to out flank the enemies.

Xi'an Ancient City Wall

Since the ancient weapons did not have the power to break through a wall and the only way for an enemy to enter the city was by attacking the gate of the city wall. This is why complicated gate structures were built within the wall. The wall includes four gates and they are respectively named as Changle (meaning eternal joy) in the east, Anding (harmony peace) in the west, Yongning (eternal peace) in the south and Anyuan (forever harmony) in the north.

Each city gate has three gate towers: Zhenglou, Jianlou and Zhalou. The most outside is Zhalou, which stands away and is opposite to Zhenglou. It was used to raise and lower the suspension bridge. Jianlou with small windows in the front and flanks was used as a defensive outpost. Zhenglou, in the inner, is the main entrance to the city. The wall connects Jianlou and Zhenglou Towers. The area between them was called 'Wong Cheng', in which the soldiers stationed. From Wong Cheng, there are sloped horse passages leading to the top of the wall.

Sichuan Face opera

We cannot talk about face changing without mentioning Sichuan opera. Sichuan Opera is one of many local operas in China, popular in the provinces of Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou. Face changing is not simply changing one’s facial make up in a casual way, but is aspecial technique in the performance of Sichuan Opera. It refers to the changing of masks in quick succession to show different emotions and feelings of the character in the play. It is said the origin of face changing has something to do with the resistance of wild beasts. In ancient times, when coming across a ferocious animal, people used to draw different patterns ontheir faces to scare the animal away and keep themselves safe. Later on, suchtrick was applied to the stage performance of Sichuan Opera, and the unique artof face changing has thus come into being.

Sichuan Mahjong experience

Besides food and beautiful natural landscape, Sichuan is famous for its slow-rate life style.Playing Mahjong is definitely the most typical representative. Mahjong isa tile-based game that was developed in China during the Qing dynasty and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is commonly played byfour players (with some three-player variations found in Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia). The game and itsregional variants are widely played throughout Eastern and South Eastern Asiaand have become popular in Western countries too. The game has also beenadapted into a widespread online entertainment. Similar to the Westerncard game rummy, Mahjong is a game of skill, strategy, and calculation and involves a degree of chance.
