1)finish doing sth.  完成做某事

巧学妙记】 常接v-ing作宾语的词(短语)

喜欢(enjoy)错过(miss)别介意(mind),

完成(finish)愉快(have fun)勤练习(practice),

忙得(be busy)禁不住(can't help)想放弃(give up)。

I enjoy reading books.

Do you mind opening the windows?

Does he practice playing the piano every day?

2)mess  n. 杂乱;不整洁

mess作名词,常用短语。

make a mess 搞得一团糟(表示动作)

be in a mess 杂乱不堪;陷入困境(表示状态)

—Don't make a mess on the balcony, Betty.—Sorry, I won't.

All the rooms are in a mess.

【拓展延伸】 mess还可作动词,意为“使不整洁;弄脏;弄乱” 。

I've put the books away. Please don't mess them up again.

情态动词could的用法

情态动词could可用于礼貌地向对方提出请求或请求对方的许可,常用于疑问句,可代替can,在意思与时间上与can没有区别,但语气比can委婉有礼貌。

1.委婉地表示请求别人做某事。

常用句型Could/Can/Would you(please) do sth.?

肯定回答Yes,sure./Yes,I can./Of course,I can./No problem./With pleasure.

否定回答可先拒绝,再说明理由:Sorry,I can't.I have to.../Sorry,I'm going to.../I'm afraid I can't.I have to...

2.委婉地表示请求别人允许自己做某事。

常用句型Could/May/Can I do sth.?

肯定回答Yes,you can./Yes,please.等

否定回答Sorry,you can't./I'm afraid you can't.等(后可接上拒绝的理由)

【拓展】could的其他用法:

①could为情态动词can的过去式,用于表示能力。

e.g.He could swim at the age of five.他5岁就能游泳了。

②表示可能性,用来对将来、现在或过去进行推测。

e.g.I can't find Mr.Miller in the office.He could be in the classroom.我在办公室找不到米勒先生。他可能在教室。

③表示建议。

e.g.You could wear a coat if you go to climb the mountain.如果你去爬山的话可以穿大衣去。

④用于虚拟语气。

e.g.Many people wish that they could fly.很多人都希望他们能飞。
