探究一 分数表达法

On the one hand, more than three quarters of the population are Chinese, so you can simply speak Putonghua a lot of the time. 一方面，华人超过了人口的四分之三，因此，大部分时间里你只要讲普通话就足够了。(P70)

【点睛】

1. 英语中的分数表达法为：分子用基数词，分母用序数词，当分子大于一时，分母要用复数形式。

2. 分数作主语时，谓语的单复数要与其后面的名词的数保持一致。若名词为可数名词复数形式，谓语动词用复数形式；若名词为可数名词单数形式或不可数名词，谓语动词用第三人称单数形式。

探究二 whether的用法

【点睛】

whether用作连词，意为“不管……（还是），或者……（或者）”，常用结构有：whether... or... 连接两个并列主语、短语或句子。如：

The trip, whether by bus or train, takes less than five hours. 不管坐公共汽车还是火车，旅行都用不到5个小时。

Whether it is easy or it is difficult, we won’t give up. 不管容易还是困难，我们都不会放弃。
