Unit 10 You’re supposed to shake hands.

Section B 1a—1d

【教学目标】

1) 能掌握以下重难点句子：

You’re supposed to …   You’re not supposed to…  It’s impolite to …  You shouldn’t …

2) 提高学生的听力水平。

3）通过对一些国家的风俗习惯和饮食文化。餐桌礼仪的了解，进一步提高学生对文明生活的认识。

4）通过学习了解各国的基本礼仪。

5）培养学生良好的合作能力和良好的行为习惯。

【教学重点及难点】

1. 教学重点：

1) 掌握本课时出现的生词及用法。

2) 进行听力训练，提高综合听说能力。

2. 教学难点

1. 运用所学内容谈论餐桌礼仪。

2. 在听的过程中获取有用的信息。

【教学过程】

Step 1 Warming-up

1.Review (play a game复习短语)

ü We shouldn’t point at people with our chopsticks.

ü It’s not polite to point at people with our chopsticks.

2.Work on 1b. Steve is going to China to study. His friend Yang Ming is telling him about the table manners in China. Listen and number the pictures in the order you hear them.

Step 4 Work on 1c

Listening.

1.Work on 1c. Listen again. Match the sentence parts.____ 1. You’re not supposed to…     a. stick your chopsticks into your food.____ 2. It’s impolite to…            b. point at anyone with your chopsticks.____ 3. You shouldn’t…             c. start eating first if there are older people at the table.让学生看1b插图。说一说他们在干什么？然后让学生听第一次录音，把插图的顺序写出来。再让学生第二次听录音，把1c两部分句子连起来【设计意图】在听力练习中巩固目标句型，提高学生的听力水平。

2. Listen again and answer the questions.

1. Where will Steve go tomorrow?

He will go to China tomorrow.

2. How does he feel?

He feels excited but a little nervous.

3. Why does he feel nervous?

Because he doesn’t know how to use chopsticks very well and doesn’t know how to behave at the dinner table.

4. Who is not allowed to talk at dinner table in China?

Nobody.

3.Listen again. Fill in the chart.

4. Listen ，read and check the answers

Yang Ming: You must be excited about leaving for China tomorrow, Steve!

Steve:      Yeah, but I’m a little nervous, too.

Yang Ming: Why?

Steve:     Well, for one thing, I don’t know how to use chopsticks very well … and I don’t know how to behave

at the dinner table.

Yang Ming: Oh, I see. Well, one important thing is that you’re not supposed to start eating first if there are older

people at the table.

Steve:     That’s interesting. In the United States, it doesn’t matter.

Yang Ming: Yeah, I know. It’s also impolite to stick your chopsticks into your food. You shouldn’t point at anyone

with your chopsticks, either.

Steve:      Oh, OK.

Yang Ming: Oh, and there’s one more thing you need to know. You’re not supposed to talk when you’re eating dinner. Only parents are expected to talk at the dinner table. Children are not allowed to speak.

Steve:     Wow! That’s ... that’s unusual!

Yang Ming: Haha, I’m just kidding!

Step 5 Work on 1d

Talk about other table manners in your country.
