“无语” 可不是 “No words” ! 不知道才尴尬！

“无语”本来表示“没有话语，寂静无声”，之后“无语”发展成了网络语言，意思等同于郁闷、无奈，在网络中也可以引申为看到某种人或事表示不理解、没有头绪，或者是表示不愿再为此计较、懒得说。

“No words” 表示 “尽在不言中”（这也是一首歌名哦！）

No words can fully express my gratitude. 

千言万语也难以表达我的感激之情。

那么，在英语中，怎样更好地表达“无语”这一词呢？

1.  Speechless    表示因为心情激动等说不出话来，无法用言语表达。

The bad news rendered us all speechless from shock. 

这个坏消息使大家惊愕得说不出话来。

2.  Bite back  直译为“咬回”，实际表示急忙收回自己要说的话，欲言又止的样子。

He wanted to tell her his real ideas, but he bit the words back.

他想对她说出自己真实的想法，可他还是没说出来。

3.  Have nothing to say for oneself   表示“无话可说，无可辩驳；哑口无言”，在英语口语中表示“一言不发；总不开口”。

She has nothing to say for herself.

她自己无话可说。

4.  Keep to yourself  表示不告诉别人，保守秘密或是不与别人有过多来往，不喜欢交际。

He kept the news to himself.

他没告诉任何人这条消息。

She was quite introverted and always kept herself to herself.

她是一个内向的人，不怎么与人打交道。

5.  Be not on speaking terms (with somebody)  表示因为不愉快的事情而导致关系没有那么友好了。

He's not been on speaking terms with his father for three years because of a small thing.

因为一件小事，他已经三年没和他父亲讲话了。

6.  Be lost for words  表示因为惊讶，困惑等不知道该说什么才好，无言以对的样子。

After two years, her friend became so beautiful that she was lost for words.

两年之后，她的朋友变得如此的漂亮以致于她不知道该说什么了。
