主讲人简介

Dr. Cheng is an assistant professor in Linguistics at the University of Washington, directing the Neuroplasticity and Language Lab (NLL). She received her Ph.D. in Linguistics and Cognitive Science from the University of California, San Diego. Her research interests lie in language processing and learning, the neural foundations of language, and early neural plasticity. 

程琪博士目前是美国华盛顿大学助理教授，神经可塑性及语言实验室主任。毕业于美国UCSD大学，曾长期工作于Mayberry 多模态实验室。她主要研究兴趣在于语言处理和学习，语言的神经基础以及早期大脑神经可塑性。

讲座内容摘要

Deaf children often have impoverished early language experience when a fully accessible sign language is absent in their environment. In this talk, I will show behavioral and neural findings on the outcomes of severely delayed first language development, with a focus on the use of basic word order in American Sign Language (ASL).

大部分聋娃早期语言输入贫乏，因为他们生长环境中没法接触到手语（95%的聋娃出生在听人父母家庭，即家中没人用手语）。因此，这些孩子第一语言的习得被严重拖后延迟，这样会对孩子语言发展造成什么影响呢？我们主要围绕美国手语基本语序为主题，对美国聋人做了一系列行为及神经实验，报告将展示我们的相关发现。
