In 1978, a Hong Kong businessman came to China's Mainland to looked for a more suitable factory for production. A Dongguan garment factory had enthusiasm and strong technology. It produced handbag samples in only one day. The businessman was very satisfied with such technology and speed, so he chose this factory, which later became the Taiping handbag factory, the first enterprise in China's Mainland to adopt the "Three-plus-one trading-mix" operation mode that is the abbreviation of processing with provided materials, parts and samples and making compensation transactions.1978年，一位港商来到内地寻找替代工厂。一家东莞服装厂嗅觉敏锐、技术够硬，仅用一天就生产出了手袋样品。港商大为满意，当即拍板。中国内地第一家“三来一补”企业——太平手袋厂就此诞生。"But this one (the old sewing machine) is actually, I feel like, almost faster or more powerful than that one (the modern machine)." Jack came to the Taiping handbag factory exhibition hall to experience the old sewing machine from 40 or 50 years ago. He was delighted with the handbag it had sewn. In the dialogue with Tan Yue'e, the first group of female workers in the new era in China, Jack also learns that she became the first Model Worker in the factory.“我觉得这台机器比新型的更快、更有力。”Jack来到太平手袋厂陈列馆体验了四五十年前的老缝纫机。他对自己缝出来的手袋十分满意。在与中国第一批新时代女工谭月娥对话中，Jack也收获了她成为全厂第一劳动模范的故事。
The Taiping handbag factory is China's first enterprise to accept foreign capital. In Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, Jack and post-doctor Tang Zijie tested new batteries together to understand the development of scientific innovation in Dongguan and intuitively feel the upgrading and evolution of Dongguan.在松山湖材料实验室，Jack与博士后唐子杰一起测试新型电池，近距离了解科创在东莞的落地发展，直观感受东莞的升级进化。After drilling a hole through the battery, it can still supply power. After cutting the battery in half, nothing happens. After burning it with alcohol, the shell melts, but the battery itself is undamaged... Jack marvels at the excellent nature of the zinc-based battery.在电池上打孔对穿后依然能供电，把电池对半切开后无事发生，用酒精烧后外壳融化而电池本身毫发无损……锌基电池的卓越性质让Jack惊叹。
Dongguan has an excellent industrial environment, complete upstream and downstream supply chains, great talent teams and a unique geographical location. From Dr. Tang's words, Jack found part of the answer to the rapid development of Dongguan - the people who made them in this city.

The third episode, Dongguan: Forefront of China’s opening-up and innovation, was released. Jack Klumpp, the foreign host, explored the development path of this city from Humen to Songshan Lake.《第三只眼看东莞》系列视频推出第三集《东莞“进化论”：从历史重地到科创新城》，外籍主持Jack Klumpp从虎门到松山湖，探寻到了这座城市的发展之路。
This year, the Publicity Department of Dongguan Municipal Committee invited foreign hosts to Dongguan to tell the stories of Dongguan centred on Dongguan’s "four CARDS" which are the city where modern history begins, the world-renowned manufacturing city, trendy Dongguan and the basketball city with unique perspective. It's to launch five short videos of “I'm in Dongguan” in both English and Chinese, which will contribute to telling the stories of Dongguan, Guangdong and China as well as help the world know the city better.
今年，东莞市委宣传部围绕近代史开篇地、国际制造名城、潮流东莞、篮球城市等东莞“四张名片”，邀请外籍主持人来莞，用第三方独特视角讲述东莞故事，拍摄制作推出5集中英文短视频《第三只眼看东莞》，让全世界看到“双万新城”的不同面，对外讲好东莞故事、广东故事、中国故事。Times have changed, and Dongguan's development has never stopped.
