Postdoctoral Research Associate Positions – Nanoelectronics / Neural Engineering
The Fang Lab at Dartmouth College, Thayer School of Engineering, seeks highly motivated individuals to fill several postdoctoral positions. Through fundamental innovations on electronic materials and devices, often from the nanoscale, our mission is to bring scalable, multifunctional solutions to address grand challenges facing our society, for example, to reverse engineer the brain. We are an experimental lab with a team of electrical engineers, materials scientists, and bioengineers. Positions are available immediately until filled. Candidates should have at least one of the following training/expertise: (1)Micro/Nano device design and fabrication. Candidates should have a strong foundation in at least a few device areas including: nanomaterials processing, nanoelectronics, nano-optoelectronics, flexible electronics, and/or MEMS devices.(2)Electronic engineering. Candidates should have a track record in both hardware and software designs. The hardware design includes analog and digital circuit design, simulation, prototyping, schematic capture, circuit board layout, and assembly into finished systems. Software design includes algorithm development (Matlab) and program implementation (LabVIEW, C, or other languages). (3)Tissue response studies to neural implants. Candidates should have solid experience with investigating tissue response to neural implants, especially over the long term. Having experiences with in vivo neural recordings is an asset. (4)Large-scale electrophysiology. Candidates should have expertise in large-scale extracellular spike recordings and corresponding signal processing in the context of understanding animal behavior.(5)Neurotransmitter sensing. Candidates should have ample experience working with in vivo or ex vivo electrochemical sensing of neurotransmitters (such as dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, epinephrine) in the context of neurological diseases and pharmacology. An earned Ph.D. is required, as are excellent communication skills. Qualified candidates are strongly encouraged to send their (a) CV and (b) names and contact info of at least two references to Prof. Hui Fang at hui.fang@dartmouth.edu before formally applying. The lab closely interacts within the Integrative Neuroscience at Dartmouth program with faculty from the departments of Biology, Biochemistry, Psychological & Brain Sciences, Neurology, Psychiatry, Surgery, Epidemiology, Molecular & Systems Biology. Together with Thayer School of Engineering, this tightly knit group values cross-lab interactions and fosters collaborative publications and mentoring. The relationships one makes in this research environment will nourish and support their scientific aspirations and personal growth.Dartmouth is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to increasing diversity and inclusion.
