New Rules to Affect Your Daily Life in China

Starting from September 1, a series of new rules and policies will take affect in Guangzhou and across China. Let’s see how everyday life in China will be changed.



1. Mobile long-distance & roaming fees cancled nationwide


The country's three telecom carriers - China Mobile Communications Corp, China United Network Communications Group Co, and China Telecommunications Corp- have announced that they would remove domestic long-distance and roaming charges from the first day of September, a month ahead of the deadline set by the State Council.



2. GZ-HK through train tickets can be collected at Guangzhou East Railway Station


Starting from Sept. 1, travelers taking Guangzhou-Kowloon through train will be able to buy both single-trip or round-trip tickets online and collect the tickets at the Guangzhou East Railway. 



By showing the bank card used for buying tickets to the staff, both single-trip and round-trip tickets bought online can be picked up at the information desk on the first floor of the Guangzhou East Railway Station. 


You can book the tickets at most 30 days and at least 6 hours prior to departure and pick up the tickets no later than 20 minutes before the train leaves. (Buying and Collecting GZ-HK Through Train Tickets Gets Easier)


3. You can apply for a car plate to cross the HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge


Drivers can apply for a dual HK/Mainland car plate that allows vehicles to cross the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Maocao Bridge. The application website is www.gdgajj.gov.cn. 



4. You will experience airport style security check at GZ Metro


All passengers will be required to go through airport-style body scanners. Furthermore, as already in place in a number of stations, all baggage must be put through an X-ray scanner before entering the subway station. 5. Your ID or Passport is Required to be Shown Before Getting on Board of Pearl River Night Cruise


From Sept. 1, tourists who purchase Pearl River Night Cruise tickets through either online or offline platforms, are required to present their ID such as ID cards, passport, mainland travel permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents, mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents. 



6. You will be fined if you fail to stop at a zebra crossing when cycling


Cyclists who fail to stop at a zebra crossing will be warned by police or get a fine of no less than 5 yuan and not more than 50 yuan in Guangzhou. Motorbikes and vehicles including self-balancing unicycles, electric self-balancing scooters, electric scooters and electric tricycles, are not allowed to run on roads of Guangzhou downtown, Guangzhou Higher Education Mega Center and South Railway Station. 



7. Hoverboard are not allowed to run on roads


Non-motor vehicles like bikes and motorized wheelchairs will be confiscated if parked illegally at Guangzhou South Railway Station. Motorbikes are not allowed to run on certain designated roads, so will self-balancing unicycles, electric self-balancing scooters, electric scooters and electric tricycles. Vehicle owners will be fined or their personal credit be affected if they violate relevant regulations.
