Call for Papers and Workshop
Poverty Reduction and Sustainable Development of Minority Areas in Western China

Supporting Journal: Emerging Markets Finance and Trade (SSCI)
College of Business and Tourism Management, Yunnan University, China, and the Society for the Study of Emerging Markets (SSEM) invite submission of papers for, and participation in, a major international workshop on economic challenges and developments in Western China. Empirical papers related to the theme of the conference as well as papers dealing with the following topics are welcome. Participants are invited to submit their individual papers for presentation or to propose an entire panel consisting of four papers.
Workshop themes should be related to issues facing Western China, including, but not limited, to:

ØKEYNOTE SPEAKERS
Professor Sushanta Kumar Mallick
Professor of International Finance at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London, UK. he has been the Co-editor-in-Chief of ‘Economic Modelling’ – a leading 35-year old scholarly journal published by Elsevier. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of Warwick, UK. He has nearly 90 peer-reviewed journal articles published in the areas of international economics & finance and development. His academic work has been mainly focused on issues in macroeconomic policy, international finance and economic development.

Professor He Gao
Professor of Strategyand Organizational study at the School of Business & Tourism Management,Yunnan University. His Academic work has been mainly focused on the issues inStrategic Management of SME, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship of start-up Enterprises. He has a large number of papers and Monographs in the relatedareas. He also provides training and consulting for many famous enterprises. ProfessorHe Gao is currently deputy dean and director of MBA education center of Schoolof Business & Tourism Management, Yunnan University.
Professor Ali M. Kutan,
The Managing Editor of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade will conduct a special session on "How to publish in top journals in economics and business", targeted towards young scholars and doctoral students. Questions will also be taken from the participants of the session.
Professor Fang Meng
Dr.Fang Meng is an Associate Professor (tenured) in the School of Hotel,Restaurant & Tourism Management, and a Research Associate in the Smart StateCenter of Economic Excellence in Tourism and Economic Development at the Universityof South Carolina, USA. Dr. Meng’s research mainly focuses on tourism destinationmarketing and management, tourist behavior/experience, and internationaltourism. She is the author and co-author of more than 100 scientificpublications including journal articles, book chapters and conferenceproceedings.

ØPUBLICATION OPPORTUNITY
Papers presented at the conference will be considered for publication (subject to double-blind reviewing process) in a regular issue of Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, (SSCI) http://www.tandfonline.com/loi/mree20, as a symposium.
ØABSTRACT / PAPER SUBMISSION
Paper proposals, consistingof an abstract of no more than 400 words and/or complete papers, should be submitted viaemail: workshop2019@ynu.edu.cn

Workshop committeewill evaluate the papers and make a decision within 15 days upon the submissiondate. Proposals will be reviewed by the conference's scientific committee on anongoing basis.
The deadline forsubmissions of abstracts or complete papers is May 5, 2019. Decisions will be made within two weeks uponsubmissions. The number of papers that can be accommodated is limited, soplease be sure to submit your abstract/paper early.
ØCONFERENCE REGISTRATION
All conference attendees (including paper presenters) are required to pay the registration fee using the link provided in the acceptance letter.
Registration fee of US$100 for attendees without any paper submission and covers conference materials, welcome reception, drink, coffee breaks, and lunch.
Registration fee of US$240 (early bird: until April 15, 2019) for all attendees with paper submission and covers conference materials, welcome reception, drink, coffee breaks, lunch, and paper processing fee.
A late registration fee of US$280 applies to all registrations received after April 15 (until May 15, 2019).
The registration fee waives the submission fee for workshop papers submitted to
Emerging Markets Finance and Trade and includes one-year membership in the SSEM. Members receive free subscription to EMFT (online).
