International Journal of Remote Sensing

Aims and scope

The International Journal of Remote Sensing

(IJRS) is concerned with the theory, science and technology of remote sensing and novel applications of remotely sensed data.  The journal’s focus includes remote sensing of the atmosphere, biosphere, cryosphere and the terrestrial earth, as well as human modifications to the earth system.  Principal topics include:

• Remotely sensed data collection, analysis, interpretation and display.

• Surveying from space, air, water and ground platforms.

• Imaging and related sensors.

• Image processing.

• Use of remotely sensed data.

• Economic surveys and cost-benefit analyses.

• Remote sensing with unmanned aerial systems (UAS, also known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or drones).

Special Issue Call for Papers

Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research:

The International Journal of Remote Sensing (IJRS) invites submissions of papers arising out of the ‘Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research’ (UAS4Enviro2018) conference.  Papers recommended for publication by independent reviewers will be published in a special issue of IJRS, titled Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) for Environmental Research.

This special issue seeks to explore the potential of UAV technology for remote sensing applications in a wide range of fields, such as agriculture, coastal area studies, water quality, forestry, urban mapping, disaster response, terrain mapping, and other ecological and geological monitoring applications. In addition, the special issue addresses theoretical and applied innovations in processing techniques, including topics such as positional accuracy, feature fusion, mosaicking, and 3D modeling.

Deadline: 30th October 2018
