PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme Scholarship package

Tuition fee waiver (HK$42,100 per annum) and a cash award (HK$40,000 in Year 1 and HK$20,000 for the remaining years of the normal study period, subject to satisfactory academic performance)

Studentship (up to HK$319,200 per annum) and conference attendance grant (up to HK$13,300 per annum), depending on the applicants’ academic and research achievements

Associated Money to cover research-related expenses (HK$20,000 per annum)

Strong intellectual support: co-supervised by Dr. Angel Chan (PolyU) and her collaborators in UK and/or Europe

Promising prospects in publishing in a number of high impact journals (e.g. former PhD student able to publish in "Journal of Child Language", "Applied Psycholinguistics", “Cognition” ) 

Opportunity to test children in a number of linguistic/cognitive experimental tasks

Eligibility & Expectations

General 

General university requirements: http://www51.polyu.edu.hk/eprospectus/rpg/admission-requirements 

Preferably a good master degree in Linguistics/Psycholinguistics/Speech Therapy with relevant training in Cantonese phonology, language development and disorders

Demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance and research ability

Preferably a (near) native speaker of Cantonese

Preferably knowledge and proficiency in statistics

Preferably some experience in testing young children

Good academic English writing skills (IELTS: 7 or above)

Willing to transcribe and code massive experimental data 

Sepcific

PolyU Presidential PhD Fellowship Scheme:

(Compulsory) have obtained a PhD admission offer from a top university in the world (PhD admission offer with a scholarship from a top university is preferred)
