Secrets of Jiangxi: From Pottery to Ancient Villages

3 Nights | 24-27 Septemeber

From 3,609 RMB per person

If you're looking for some R&R, you'll find it easy to mold into life in Jingdezhen, the porcelain capital of the world. Just a 1-hour flight or 4-hour train ride from Shanghai, Jingdezhen is an easy getaway set amongst stunning mountain scenes. Hike to ancient villages where locals still dry colorful crops on their terraces and meet the artists breathing new life into the art of porcelain creation. You may have heard of "fine china" and this is where it got its name.

What we love:

  • Admiring contemporary ceramic art in the Tao Xi Chuan Art District

  • Hiking Gaoling Mountain where well-known kaolin clay was originally found

  • Visiting ancient villages in the hills of Jiangxi

Songyang: Tea, Traditions, and Innovation

3 Nights | 17-20 Septemeber

From 4,938 RMB per person

In Zhejiang's misty and mountainous southwest, Songyang county has, in many ways, remained unchanged for centuries. Here, artisans cast traditional iron knives in street-side stores, and communities participate in ancient fengshui practices. Local chefs steam hand-cut noodles and farmers grow green tea that is now thought of as some of the best in China. However, beyond the county's traditional lifestyle lies a surprising modern art scene. Tea fields have become home to modern teahouses where young entrepreneurs reinvigorate the culture of their ancestors and dusty sugar factories have been transformed into modern architectural masterpieces.

What we love:

  • Slurping noodles in Songyang Old Town

  • Learning about local innovation in the Damu Mountain teahouse

  • Hiking to Yangjiatang Village and watching the sun set over the valley
