Theme: “The Pursuit of Happiness” – Summer Film Series
Join us in Lincoln Hall on August 29th for a screening of “The Pursuit of Happyness”, starring Will Smith and his son (in real life), Jaden Smith. The film tells the story of single father Chris Gardner who is evicted from his apartment and suddenly must find a way to survive on the streets of San Francisco. Despite many challenges, Chris refuses to give up on his dream of a better life for himself and his son. The screening will be followed by a discussion of the film. This program is part of our Summer Film Series.

美国在每年9月15日至10月15日都会庆祝拉丁裔传统文化月，用于表彰西班牙文化和拉美文化对美国社会的重大贡献和多种多样的影响。当这一国家庆典开始时，广州美领馆欣喜地主办我们一年一度的拉丁裔传统文化月启动典礼，这是我们一年之中最盛大的活动之一。加入我们，在享受美食、舞蹈和其他活动的同时，一起庆祝这蕴含独特美国文化的节日。
拉丁裔文化的多样性体现在其多种多样的烹饪艺术、活泼的音乐风格和舞蹈风格中，这些都会在启动典礼上得到展现。我们将提供精选的免费食物和点心，配有音乐伴奏的开放舞池，现场还有骚沙音乐表演。这种利于家庭和睦的典礼包含适合所有年龄段的活动。

Theme: Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration 2019
Hispanic Heritage Month, observed in the U.S. every year from September 15 to October 15, recognizes the valuable contributions and diverse influence of Hispanic and Latino cultures to American society. As this national celebration begins, the U.S. Consulate Guangzhou is excited to be hosting our annual Hispanic Heritage Month kick-off celebration, one of our largest events of the year! Join us for food, dancing, and other activities to celebrate this unique side of U.S. culture.
The diversity of Hispanic culture is reflected in its varied cuisine, lively music, and dance – all of which will be on display at our kick-off event. We will be offering a selection of free food and refreshments as well as an open dance floor with dance instruction and a performance by Salsa Cubana. This family-friendly event will also include activities for all ages.
Through generations of immigration from across the Americas, Hispanic/Latino Americans have not only enriched U.S. culture but have also influenced government, business, and society in important ways. Hispanic Heritage Month is our time to recognize their enduring contributions and celebrate cultural diversity. Come share in this special annual tribute on September 11 at 18:30 in Lincoln Hall.
