Sample Writing
Last week, I took part in the Red Cross first aid training.
At the beginning, we assembled in the school hall to listen to the importance and basic steps of first aid. After realizing how important first aid is, we couldn’t wait to learn more. After a short grouping, we were led to a classroom where a trainer demonstrated the detailed procedure. We watched closely as he showed every move. Then came the test for first aid. Although I was nervous, I managed to carry out all the moves that were taught just now.
To my excitement, I was issued a first aider certificate. I held the certificate with pride and thought that I could help more people in need with the knowledge of first aid.

DearJim,
Hope the email finds you are doing great. Your last email received, I am thrilled to learn that you share the same interest in the Red Cross First Aid Club as me. Ican't wait to tell you everything I know about it.
Established in 1991 in the wake of an unfortunate tragedy where teachers and students failed to resuscitate a drowned boy due to lack of first aid skills, the club was intended to promote the spirit of helping each other and provide educationand training to teachers and students, like you and me, who are dedicated to offering help in time of need. With a mission to enable more and more people tosave lives in desperate situations, the club opens its gate to not only students and teachers btu also people from all works of life.
In addition to its glamorous mission, what really attracts people is its exquisitely designed training courses and well-organized activities. The courses cover a variety of subjects, ranging from health care and public safety, lifeguarding to first aid, CPR, etc. Moreover, the courses are by no means boring as they are taught by professionals with firsthand experience and many breathtaking stories. My favorite part of the club is its various activities, including forums and parties where people get together toshare experience, debate on various topics or celebrate each other's achievements and travels that take us to places all over the country and to people of different back ground and cultures.
WhatI gained from my three years of dedicated membership is enormous. It not only provided me access to a new field of knowledge but also greatly broadened myview in terms of helping people--it takes not only enthusiasm but alsoknowledge and skill to provide timely and accurate help. Unlike other clubsthat focus on self-achievement or entertainment, the Red Cross First Aid club advocates the value of giving, sharing and helping, a value that has brought many lovely people together. I am looking forward to you joining us as well.
Sincerely,
LiHua

One morning,David was working at his home office while watching his infant daughter Jane who was crawling on the floor.Suddenly, he noticed that she had picked something up and put it in her mouth. Then she began to move like she was struggling. He quickly jumped from his chair and ran over and picked her up.Going back to his chair, he held her in his lap and saw that she was still struggling with a frightened look on her face. However, she was not crying or making a sound.
He carefully opened her mouth to see if there was obstruction. Not finding anything, he then gave her a few hard slaps on her back.
It worked! Within seconds a small button fell from her mouth onto the floor. and she was breathing once again. Thanks to David’s quick thinking,Jane was saved.
