当代美学研究的诸多新问题和新领域，都与马克思主义的历史唯物主义和雷蒙德·威廉斯的文化唯物主义以及路易·阿尔都塞的意识形态理论直接相关。在当代美学的研究格局中，无论研究的问题领域还是研究的方法和核心理念，马克思主义美学与物质文化研究的关系都是一个十分重要而且引人注目的领域。它广泛地涉及文学研究、文化研究、艺术理论、文化遗产保护与研究、时尚研究、现代设计中的美学观念、审美习性与物质生产方式的关系、当代电影中的思想和技术、艺术创新与美学的革命等等。这些都与物质文化的研究直接相关。

由中国浙江大学、浙江省美学学会、德国美学学会、英国曼彻斯特大学、英国杜伦大学、比利时安特卫普大学、加拿大文化更新研究院、亚洲新人文联网、中华美学会马克思主义美学专业委员会、中国延安大学、当代马克思主义美学研究基金会联合发起并主办的“第八届国际马克思主义美学论坛”定于2019年9月于中国杭州举办。会议由浙江大学当代马克思主义美学研究中心、《浙江大学学报（人文社会科学版）》编辑部、浙江大学美学与批评研究所承办。

本届论坛拟邀请当代马克思主义美学和物质文化研究领域的顶级学者发表主题演讲，并组织8-10个专题进行充分的交流和讨论。

会议主题：马克思主义美学与物质文化研究

主要议题包括：

         1.马克思主义美学与物质文化研究传统

         2.美学与人类学：时尚研究

         3.马克思的理论方法与当代美学问题

         4.审美人类学与文化习性研究

         5.文化仪式及器物的作用

         6.中国当代艺术批评中的美学问题

         7.中国文化对审美现代性的调整

         8.审美资本及其物质载体

         9.其他理论问题

会议规模150人，会议接受博士生和博士后研究人员的论文。

会议工作语言为英语和汉语，会议安排同声传译。

现在向学界征集论文。有意出席会议者，请于2019年3月10日前提交中英文论文摘要发至论坛邮箱 [e-mail]。大会组委会将根据论文的情况确定邀请对象，本届论坛正式通知将于2019年4月30日前发出。

会议不收会务费。资料费、住宿费和差旅费等由参会者自理。

会议组委会将从收到的论文全文中评选出3篇青年学者优秀论文（40周岁及以下），提供优秀论文作者参会的往返机票及住宿费。优秀论文将由《浙江大学学报（人文社会科学版）》和《马克思主义美学研究》发表。

“Marxist Aesthetics and Studies of Material Culture”

——8th International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics

CONFERENCE INTRODUCTION

Contemporary aesthetic studies are strongly influenced by Marxist historical materialism, cultural materialism of Raymond William and ideological theory of Louis Althusser. Implications of Marxist aesthetic theories on material culture studies are emphasized in terms of topics, methods and ideas. Relevant research can be found in literary studies, cultural studies, art theory, protection and study on cultural heritage, fashion studies, aesthetic ideas in modern design, relationship between aesthetic habitus and material production mode, thoughts and techniques in modern films, art innovation and aesthetic revolution, etc.

The 8th International Forum on Marxist Aesthetics is scheduled in September 2019 in Hangzhou, China. It will be hosted jointly by Zhejiang University (China), Zhejiang Association for Aesthetics, German Aesthetic Society, University of Manchester (UK), Durham University (UK), Antwerp University (Belgium), Cultural Regeneration Research Society (Canada), Asian New Humanities Net, Professional Board of Marxist Aesthetics of Chinese Aesthetics Society, Foundation of Contemporary Marxist Aesthetic Studies and Yan’an University (China). The conference will be undertaken by Center for Contemporary Marxist Aesthetics (Zhejiang University), Editorial office of Journal of Zhejiang University (Humanity and Social Sciences) and Research Institute of Aesthetics and Criticism (Zhejiang University).

Leading academics in Marxist aesthetics and material culture studies are invited to give keynote speeches on the conference.

LIST OF TOPICS

      Topics of interest include but are not limited to: 

1. Marxist aesthetics and traditions of material culture studies

2. Aesthetics and Anthropology: fashion studies

3. Marxist theoretical methods and contemporary aesthetic issues

4. Aesthetic anthropology and studies on cultural habitus

5. Cultural ritual and meanings of implements

6. Aesthetic issues in contemporary Chinese art criticism

7. Adjustment of aesthetic modernity according to Chinese culture

8. Aesthetic capitalism and its material carrier

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Authors interested in relevant topics, including postdoc researchers and Ph.D. candidates, are invited to submit papers to the forum either in Chinese or in English.

Contributors are invited to send a title and an abstract in Chinese or English (300 words) along with a short biography (200 words) to [e-mail].

Abstract Submission Deadline: March 10, 2019

Acceptance Notification: April 30, 2019

Conference: September 2019 

PUBLICATION

Selected papers will be peer-reviewed for publication in Journal of Zhejiang  University (Humanities and Social Sciences) and Research on Marxist Aesthetics. 

REGISTRATION

Registration is free. Participants pay accommodation and transportation at their own expenses.

Conference committee will select three outstanding papers of youth scholars (age under 40 years old) and reward the authors with their accommodation and transportation expenses.
