The Silicon Valley R&D Center focuses on creating and researching educational and technology innovation. We are building a team of learning scientists, psychometricians, engineers, and researchers committed to personalizing K-12 learning and assessment experiences. We work closely with TAL’s various business groups to bring transformative research and technologies to online and offline classrooms. We also actively work with academic researchers to advance their work through TAL’s rich learning environments and datasets.
The Overseas Investment Division focuses on growth-stage investments and merger and acquisition opportunities in the education and educational technology (edtech) spaces outside of China. TAL’s investment strategy is to identify and scale edtech companies with advanced educational philosophy and leading technologies. We seek to support learners of all ages through our own and our portfolio companies’ offerings. We have invested in over 100 edtech companies in and outside of China, including BabyTree, Minerva, MakeSchool, Singularity University, Knewton, AltSchool, DaDa English, and DuiA.
As part of our global expansion efforts, Future International Education Center will also provide afterschool math programs for K-12 students in the U.S. We will use an innovative OMO (Online-Merge-Offline) model of teaching, offering a small-classroom setting for students. By merging both the online and offline learning experience，we have been able to integrate advanced educational concepts and innovative technology from both the U.S. and China. Localized curriculum is being developed, adapting to the needs of American students, while following our educational philosophy of “stimulating interest, developing good habits and shaping character”. We cultivate children with “ability that can bring a lifetime of benefits”.
Qualifications:
NLP Scientist Intern
▪PhD or MS degree with a focus on NLP, speech,machine learning or related fields.
▪Strong knowledge on NLP or speech and hands on experience in relevant projects.
▪Solid programming development skills (Python).
▪Experience in deep learning frameworks,such asTensorflow, Pytorch, Caffe, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
▪Publications in top-tier conferences and journals in related fields.
▪Experience with Probabilistic Graphical Model
▪Exposure with Computer Vision
▪Able to write production level code in C++/Java
Intern to TAL US investment Team
▪Strong interest in EdTech industry
▪Solid academic standing with recommended course work in finance, accounting or economics
▪Microsoft Suit proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
▪Bilingual (English and Chinese)
▪Excellent problem solving and analytic ability
▪Strong quantitative and technical skills & Strong data management and research skills
▪Strong work ethic and a drive & Attention to detail
▪Maturity and poise to work directly with client executives
▪High-level of engagement and
commitment to firm's goals and organizational success
Social Media Intern
▪Bachelor’s degree is required, related majors in marketing, digital marketing, advertising, business administration, etc. is strongly preferred
▪Experience of building a corporate social media presence and engaged following is a plus;
▪Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Mandarin; Excellent copy writing/editing ability
▪Positive, can-do attitude; Very detail oriented; Passion for education technology and storytelling
▪Aptitude for creative, professional imagery optimized for social media (lay outs, photography, etc.)
▪Able to work independently yet be a stellar team player with a natural ability for collaboration
▪Experience juggling multiple projects and deadlines at once and confident working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
▪Basic graphic design skills (illustrator, Photoshop, Canva, etc.) is strongly preferred
Curriculum Development Intern
▪Passionate in education technology
▪Currently progressing for a Bachelor or master’s degree in a STEM major; AMC, IMO and any other
▪Mathematic competition experiences and award is a big plus
▪Experiences in teaching and curriculum development is a plus
▪Ability to meet deadlines, handle diverse tasks simultaneously, and prioritize responsibilities as needed
▪Strong verbal and written communication skills, bi-lingual in Mandarin is a plus
▪Strong interpersonal, leadership, and motivational skills
