One World, One Fight | COVID-19 Test Kits Donated to the UK

On March 23, a total of 10,000 Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) rapid test kits were donated and shipped from Shenzhen to the UK by Peking University's HSBC UK campus, they will soon be delivered at the designated hospitals in London.

In the past few weeks, the outbreak of COVID-19 in the UK has continued to spread, and medical supplies such as virus test kits and ventilators are in short supply. In response to the current emergency facing the nation, 11 board members of Peking University's HSBC UK campus acted quickly and actively coordinated with test kit manufacturers in Shenzhen China, who urgently deployed and integrated various resources to manufacture 10,000 test kits. The test kits were then later shipped out to Guy's Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital in the UK.

Guy's Hospital and St Thomas' Hospital are among the designated medical facilities which have been receiving and treating confirmed Coronavirus patients in the UK. With these new rapid test kits, the Hospitals can diagnose the Coronavirus within 15 minutes.

The boxes that were shipped out to the UK had a heartwarming message printed on them which says "环球同凉热，四海共冬春", when translated to English, the short message says "One World, One Fight". By doing this, the donors hoped to show that the UK is not fighting the Coronavirus crisis alone, they will support and help each other to win the battle.

Message of gratitude sent to Peking University HSBC Business School

The donation received support from HM Revenue and Customs, King's College London, and Peking University Alumni Association in the UK. David Lawson, chief of procurement, will accept the donation on behalf of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and academic health leaders of King's Health Partners.
