“Even though I’ve been away from hometown for tens of years, my heart is still with its development. It is really a comfort to receive messages from Guangdong directly,” Li Yuwen (Chinese spelling), a guest invited to the ceremony, said with emotion.
“虽然远离故土几十年，但仍然心系家乡发展。在这边就能直接接收来自家乡的讯息，真是太能满足我们的思乡之情了！”一位参加广东国际频道美洲台五周年庆典的嘉宾李玉文先生情不自禁地表示。
His ancestral hometown is in Zhanjiang, South China’s Guangdong province. He immigrated to US in 1996 and has kept in touch with his hometown ever since. He was invited back to Guangdong to take part in the 2nd Canton Entrepreneur Conference in 2010.
李玉文先生来自广东湛江，从1996年移民美国，至今已经20年。这些年，他与家乡一直保持联系，2010年还以嘉宾的身份回去参加了广东省第二届粤商大会。
On September 24 local time, the ceremony of the 5th anniversary of Guangdong TV America was held in Los Angeles, while the American version of TV play Drift, the first piece of artwork on Guangdong toilers’ life in the US, was launched on the same occasion.
当地时间2016年9月24日，广东国际频道美洲台五周年庆祝活动在洛杉矶举行。同时，首次以艺术的形式讲述漂洋过海来美国的广东华工命运的电视剧《漂》美国版也将正式启动。广东省委常委、省委宣传部部长、广东省对外文化交流协会会长慎海雄出席并发表讲话。广东省广电局局长白洁、广东广播电视台总编辑陈一珠出席活动，中国驻洛杉矶领事馆副总领事孙鲁山、美国联邦众议员赵美心、加州参议员夏乐柏、加州众议员周本立等美国当地政府官员、美国朗思传媒集团负责人、美国JG影视制作公司主要代表及当地社团侨领百余人齐聚一堂，共襄盛举。

During the event, California senator and officials from local government presented a certificate of gratitude to the Information Office of Guangdong Provincial Government and Guangdong Radio and Television Station for the latter’s efforts to supply amazing TV programs to the audience in Los Angeles and even in North America in the past 5 years, which have enriched local Chinese’s life while setting up an entertainment platform for young audience to show themselves.
庆祝活动中，美国联邦众议员赵美心及当地政府官员向广东省对外文化交流协会、广东广播电视台、广东国际美洲台颁发贺状，感谢并祝贺广东国际美洲台五年来为洛杉矶地区及北美观众带去的精彩节目，既丰富了当地华人的业余生活，也为年青一代的观众提供了一个展现自我的娱乐平台。

Shen Haixiong, head of Guangdong Provincial Publicity Department and chairman of Guangdong International Cultural Association, spoke positively of the progress Guangdong TV America has made in the past five years. He said that Guangdong mainstream media and oversea media have been deepening co-operations and exchanges, not only in joint platforms but also in content production in film and TV programs and that Guangdong has brought in social funds for and increased inputs in program production in a bid to make more and better programs for audience in North America.
慎海雄在致辞中对广东国际美洲台开播五年来的成绩给予积极评价。他说，广东主流媒体与海外媒体的合作交流正在不断加深，不仅在平台上实现合作，在节目和影视剧等内容制作方面也迈出了可喜的一大步，努力从创作和制作方面与国际全面接轨。为了促进媒体对外交流，广东引入海通证券等社会投资，加大节目研发和制作投入，力求为北美观众带来更多视听完美的新节目。
Shen said that he hoped to see Guangdong and its partners in Los Angeles and in North America to join closer force for mutual benefits and win-win development in the future.
慎海雄表示，希望在广东对外文化传播事业蓬勃发展的今天，能够与洛杉矶乃至北美地区的合作伙伴和各界朋友们携手前行，深入合作，共同开创互利共赢的美好明天。
Later, Bai Jie, chief of the Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of Guangdong Province, emceed the launching ceremony of the TV play, which narrates a legend story of how the first generation of overseas Chinese survived all the hardship and fitted into the society in the US in the 19th century.
随后，白洁局长主持了电视剧《漂》美国版启动仪式。该剧讲述了19世纪华人刻骨铭心的“美国往事”，演绎了第一代旅美华侨如何融入美国的奋斗传奇。在场嘉宾见证了广东广播电视台与美国合作公司的签约仪式，并共同为项目扣下启动装置。
In 2012, Guangdong TV America landed in Los Angeles successfully by joining hands with WCETV of R&C Media Group Inc and has provided programs for 16 million audience in the Greater Los Angeles Area ever since, making itself the first Chinese live channel in North America on Google TV platform and providing television service to 20 million users in Google TV worldwide.
2012年，广东国际美洲台联合美国银视网成功落地洛杉矶。五年来，广东国际美洲台覆盖了大洛杉矶地区1600万电视观众，成为北美第一个登录谷歌平台的华语直播频道，为谷歌在全球范围内的2000万用户提供电视服务。

At the same time, Guangdong TV America has hosted several televised talent shows targeting the American youth consecutively for several years. The shows have received heated responses.
