Two men climb Liede Bridge, cause massive delays
Two men caused massive traffic delays on Monday (April 3) after they climbed to the top of Liede Bridge in Guangzhou for fun.
Traffic police, fire fighters, water police and first-aid responders were dispatched to the scene. A drone was also used to keep an eye on the daredevils. The two men finally descended at around midnight and told police after being detained that they were looking for an adrenalin rush by climbing the bridge to take selfies. The pair were both aged below 20 and are hearing-impaired students of a provincial vocational school in Guangzhou.
Phone hackers steal 50k from SZ resident
A Shenzhen resident recently got a nasty shock after his phone was remotely switched off, locked and was charged over RMB50,000.
Initially, Mr He’s phone accounts were used in an online shopping spree totaling RMB20,000, then, after cancelling the orders, he discovered that over RMB50,000 had been borrowed in his name and that the money had already been transferred out of his account. According to police, hackers were able to purchase his personal information illegally and redirect authorization codes to their own phones. A Singaporean national has been detained by police in relation to the hack.
Buffett to lure Chinese consumers to cherry coke
Coca Cola has a tradition of sprucing up their bottle designs with song lyrics and images of superstars, but this time around Coke has gone in a different direction, by using the image of Warren Buffett.
To lure Chinese consumers into buying its cherry-flavored coke drink, Coca Cola has recently launched limited edition bottles and cans featuring a cartoon version of Warren Buffett. Buffett is a popular figure in China and is also a shareholder of the Coca Cola company.
GD’s organ donors on the rise
The number of Guangdong organ donors has risen year on year. Latest statistics indicate that organ donations numbered 513 in 2016 in Guangdong Province, posting an increase for the third consecutive year. This number also topped the nation. Guangdong also has organ donation coordinators to help with the donation process.
According to the China Organ Donation Registration Center, last year alone, the number of China's registered body and organ volunteer donors reached over 100,000, a 100-fold increase over 2010.
