First domestically built aircraft carrier launched
China officially launched its first domestically developed aircraft carrier on Wednesday(April 26) in Dalian, Liaoning province. The ship is the largest and most sophisticated surface vessel to be built in the country. The ship was constructed in the same shipyard that refitted a Soviet-era vessel that currently acts as China's People's Liberation Army Navy’s sole aircraft carrier. The new carrier’s name and hull code remain unknown as the Navy usually makes this information public only after a ship has been commissioned.

The parents of a young boy in Chaozhou city of Guangdong Province will be thanking their lucky stars as their son only narrowly escaped death after falling out of the back of a rickshaw, landing just inches away from a moving car. The youngster fell off the rickety vehicle while two adult women, who were also riding in the three-wheeler, didn’t seem to notice.

A car following behind was forced to slam on its breaks to avoid killing the child, but the child’s head scraped along the wheel as the car came to a stop.
Witnesses claim that family members riding in the rickshaw soon realized their child had fallen out, and rushed back to the scene to find him and whisk him off to hospital. Luckily, the boy was not seriously injured and did not require a stay in hospital.
Foshan makes China's most congested cities list
A report on transport conditions in major Chinese cities in the first quarter of 2017 was released recently. If you think the cities of Guangzhou or Shenzhen would top in the list of China’s most traffic-clogged cites, then you might be surprised to learn that the city of Foshan is the only city from Guangdong province in the top ten.
The report, released by the domestic navigation company Amap, found China's second and third-tier cities are facing increasing traffic congestion, while the problem has eased slightly in first-tier cities. According to the report, a growing number of shared-bicycle riders can be attributed to the decrease of cars on the roads within 5 kilometers of first-tier cities.
Tesla driver seeking compensation of 5 million
A Tesla Model X exploded into flames after it lost control and crashed into another car on Feb. 19th. This is the first time such an incident has occurred since this car model was launched nearly a year ago.
Two months have passed since the incident occurred but the owner of the car is still negotiating with Tesla China. The owner of the vehicle, Ms Li, was in the car when the incident occurred, but another person who had less than one year’s driving experience was behind the wheel. Ms Li is claiming that the vehicle burst into flames after a low-speed impact, the air bags did not inflate properly and that the car doors were jammed after the accident, meaning it was difficult to escape the vehicle and is seeking compensation of 5million yuan.
Tesla has argued that their vehicles meet domestic and international collision safety standards, that the car was driven at relatively high speed and that the car doors have pull-button releases. Tesla admits it is difficult to find what happened due to the fact that the vehicle was almost entirely destroyed by the incident, but also that Ms. Li only mentioned a problem with the airbags two months following the incident.
