A new ‘3-D zebra crossing’ in Shenzhen has ignited heated discussions online amongst net users about the safety of the new pedestrian crossing.

The zebra crossing in Futian District has been designed to appear as though it is rising up from the ground with yellow diamonds at both ends, and blue stripes along the white lines to create the illusion.

Some believe the 3-D zebra crossing will encourage drivers to slow down while others fear that the new design could confuse drivers and result in more accidents. What do you think? Let us know by participating in our poll below.

Jiangmen city in the south central region of Guangdong has become home to a national-level square dancing competition. The first session of this biannual event will take place in November.

Named the Dai Ailian Cup after the important figure in the modern history of dance in China, the competition will not place any restrictions on the dance styles that can be used and will also be free to enter. Dancing enthusiasts aged between 18 and 70 can sign up for the competition.

Jiangmen is the ancestral home of Dai Ailian. The city was also given the title of China’s City of Dance in May of 2015 by the China Dance Association.

This summer, visiting science museums has become a popular choice for many families in Guangdong. According to statistics released by the Guangdong Science Center, the center has seen a surge in visitors following the start of the summer vacation, with the number of visitors amounting to over 300,000 so far, an increase of nearly 25 percent year on year. The average number of daily visitors at its peak was nearly 12,000. The statistics also show that 70 percent of these visitors were familieswith children.

So, what’s the reason behind the huge increase of visitors? According to the science center, families nowadays are placing increased importance on science more than ever before, and the center has also organized a kaleidoscope of activities, with over 30 interactive activities featuring sound, light, electricity and magnetism available for visitors to take part in.
