China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp, one of the nation's major space contractors, announced yesterday(Aug 30) in the city of Wuhan that it has reached the research and demonstration stage in developing an ultra-fast train, also known as hyperloop. Liu Shiquan, Deputy General Manager of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corp said that space technology will be applied in making this ultrafast train.

He said that the ultra-fast train will run ten times faster than current high-speed trains, and will be able to realize supersonic speeds in a low vacuum environment. The plan will be carried out step by step, with trains that can travel at 1000 kilometers per hour as the initial goal. The ultimate goal of the project is to develop trains which can run at 4000 kilometers per hour.

GD to introduce legislation to reduce school bullying

Guangdong has pledged to strengthen controls and to further reduce the occurrence of school bullying and violence. Guangdong’s NPC (the National People’s Congress) representatives yesterday met with representatives from relevant government departments to discuss the issue. During the meeting, it was announced that the Standing Committee of Guangdong’s NPC will conduct investigations and research in the second half of this year in regards to school bullying and violence. Laws will also be implemented to further prevent and reduce the number of school bullying cases.

Shared cars set to flood Guangzhou streets

20,000 shared cars are expected to hit the streets of Guangzhou by the end of this year, a massive increase over the current 4,158 shared cars in the city as of the end of July.
 
This news comes after Guangzhou implemented rules to ban new shared bikes from being introduced to the city, meaning the shared car sector is where the growth prospects are. The government is also supporting the industry with the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development introducing policies to promote the development of shared cars in the city.
 
Just like with bike-sharing, car-sharing requires users to download an app and pay a deposit of between RMB500 and RMB1,000 in order to use the service. Valid driver’s license information is also required.
