Recently, GRT radio reported on the fact that the toilet revolution, backed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, is on its way to Guangzhou. It turns out that Shenzhen is also set to usher in the toilet revolution with a meeting held in the city on Sunday where political advisors offered advice on carrying out the revolution.

In order to solve the shortage of public toilets for women, CPPCC member Liu Bo proposed the introduction of adjustable toilets to increase the size of female bathrooms when needed. Wang Xue, another political advisor, also stated that when designing new buildings and public spaces, thought should be given to providing a suitable proportion of male and female toilets.

There are 3,343 public toilets in Shenzhen. Renovations on all of these toilets will be completed within three years, and 1,200 toilets will be renovated this year, according to Kuang Konggui, deputy director of the city’s urban management bureau.

We all know that Chinese people simply love the number eight, but it seems that black-faced spoonbills, an endangered bird species, inhabiting Shenzhen Bay are also big fans of the number.

The global census of black-faced spoonbills, conducted this year and published over the weekend, shows that there are a total of 3,941 black-faced spoonbills in the world, a record high since 1993. According to the report, around 8.8 percent of the world’s black-faced spoonbills call Shenzhen Bay home.

The number of the endangered birds found on the Chinese Mainland comes to 744, an increase of 347 over last year.

As one of China’s largest and most established airlines, China Southern Airlines already flies to over 200 destinations domestically and internationally, but the airline has announced that further routes will be added to its network, with a focus on Belt and Road countries.

A brand new route will be launched between Guangzhou and Rome on July 13th, marking the first time that China Southern Airlines will fly directly from China to Italy.

To meet demand from the 2018 World Cup to be held in Russia, China Southern will also increase the number of flights to Moscow from Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Wuhan.

This year marks the 5th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. China Southern has rapidly expanded to B&R nations in this time to meet surging demand.
