Jean-Yves Frétigné, born in 1966, is a French historian, specializing in the contemporary history of Italy and more particularly the liberal era. His work focuses on the history of ideas, cultural history, and political history.

He is currently a lecturer in contemporary history at the University of Rouen.

One of the most influential political thinkers of the twentieth century, Antonio Gramsci (1891–1937) has left an indelible mark on philosophy and critical theory.
