Call out
1. to shout something, especially when you are trying to get someone’s attention(叫喊,大声地说)
例句:Each one of you should stand up when your name is called out.
2. to ask a person or organization that provides a service to come and deal with something for you(调来,请去,召集)
例句:The fire brigade was called out twice last night.
Call on
1. to officially ask a person or organization to do something(呼吁,号召)
例句:The human rights group has called on the U.S. to end the death penalty.
2. to visit someone, usually for a short time(拜访某人)
例句:Sofia was intending to call on Miss Kitts.
3. to select or request someone to undertake a particular activity(要求)
例句:The teacher always calls on the students in the back row to answer questions.
Call off
1. to decide that something will not happen; to decide to stop something that is already happening(取消,停止)
例句:If we have much more rain, the game might be called off.
2. to order someone or something to stop attacking or aggressing(叫走,叫开,叫停)
例句:I called off my dog when he came.
