惊蛰节气最显著的特征就是春雷响起。在中国有句古话：“未过惊蛰先打雷，四十九天云不开。

The most remarkable feature of the solar term of Awakening of Insects is the sound of spring thunder. An old Chinese saying goes: "If the first spring thunder crashes before the Awakening of Insects solar term, there will be abnormal weather that year."

今夜偏知春气暖，虫声新透绿窗纱。中国传统农历将一年分为24个节气。今年的惊蛰是在3月6日。

I can feel the first motions of the warm air of spring, in the singing of an insect at my green silk window. The traditional Chinese lunar calendar divides the year into 24 solar terms. Awakening of Insects falls on 6th March this year.

惊蛰的到来，预示着气温的升高和降雨量的增加。作为农历的第三个节气，顾名思义，惊蛰意味着冬眠的动物被春雷唤醒，大地上万物复苏。中国劳动人民把惊蛰视为春耕的开始。

Awakening of Insects signals a rise in temperature and increased rain fall. As the third solar term in the lunar year, its name alludes to the fact that animals sleeping in winter are awakened by spring thunder and that the earth begins to come back to life. Farmers seize this chance to begin plowing fields.

春耕 Spring Ploughing

对农民来说，惊蛰是一个非常重要的日子，也被普遍认为是农业工作最繁忙时期的开始。在此期间，中国大部分地区气温上升最快，且日照明显增加，为农业生产提供了良好的自然条件。

For farmers, the Awakening of Insects is a very important day, and it is generally considered to be the beginning of the busiest period of agricultural work. During this period, the temperature in most parts of China rose the fastest, and the sunshine increased significantly, providing good natural conditions for agricultural production.

吃梨  Eating Pears

我国民间素有惊蛰日吃梨的习俗。随着天气变暖，气候比较干燥，人们很容易口干舌燥，引起感冒或咳嗽。梨味甘，有润肺止咳的功效。因此，惊蛰时节应多吃梨。

There is a folk custom of eating pears on the day of Awakening of Insects in China. As the weather warms and the climate is relatively dry, people are prone to dry mouth and tongue, which leads to colds or coughs. Pear is sweet, which has the effect of moistening the lungs and relieving cough. Therefore, pears are highly recommended during the Awakening of Insect.

祭白虎

Offering Sacrifices To The White Tiger

祭白虎，就是画一只白虎在纸上，再在它的嘴上涂猪血或者猪油，意思是让它吃饱后不再咬人，避免坏运气和是非矛盾。

When practicing this old custom, people draw the white tiger on paper, and then smear pig's blood and pork on its mouth. This means the tiger is fed so that it would not bite people, avoiding bad luck and conflict.

惊蛰已至，大地回春。那些熬过了冬天的生灵们，终将在轰鸣的雷声中，迎来新生。

Awakening of Insects has arrived，and the earth has rejuvenated。Those who survived the winter  will finally be in the roaring thunder for a new life.
