关于展览 About exhibition
Two participating artist in the exhibition viewed the contemporary society from the perspective of young people. Through their exaggerated and personalized expression techniques, they showed different narrative in their works of art, whether they were girlish or worldly and humorous, showing their inner echoes of the development of the current era.
In Qiurui's paintings, the observer is able to be aroused and elicit their unique personal memories, whether happy or sad, in the process of watching the complex narrative of the work, thus creating an atmosphere of profound details and establishing an emotionally subtle connection. Through his unique childhood fantasy and memory, Qiurui constructs a virtual world, in which he uses comic book characters to compose exaggerated and crazy narration and witty theatrical setting, showing a kind and familiar sense of resonance. The inner nature of the anxiety, sadness and uneasiness implied in the artist's heart is expressed by the delightful colors and the underlying narrative between the characters. At the same time, he uses Chinese Dama, a representative symbol full of contradictions and collective impressions, as a unique perspective to guide observers into the world of his works, and satirizes the seemingly reasonable but capricious life with weird and exaggerated roles where everyone is the protagonist and there is a drama going on in every corner.
天歌的作品则更多关注于自我隐匿。

关于艺术家 About artist
Qiurui Du is an artist who grew up in Beijing, China and is currently based in New York City. Having grown up in an artistic family his love of art grew tremendously. Queer identity and life experience give Qiurui a unique point of view and inspiration in art. Qiurui believes that art is a way to tell stories and, through his work, he expresses his emotions and ideas with vibrant color and animated images. In his work, he deconstructs his inner fears and loves as well as subjects from pop culture and those inspired by his surroundings and daily experiences within the social framework. In the Qiurui’s recent solo exhibitions “A Bizarre World” (May, 2018), “New York Struggles” (March, 2019), and “The Adventure Of Dama Wang” (April, 2019), he has explored his childhood memories with the particular attention to the social conflict and pop cultures that were influenced by China’s tremendous development and used acrylic to create a colorful imag- inary world with dark humors to address the social issues, such as environmental problems, the conflict between poor and rich, and traditional Chinese lifestyle in modern Chinese society.
陈天歌
Daily Fantasia I, Oil on Canvas, 24cm x 30cm, 2020
Claudia Tiange Chen is a graphic designer and a multi media artist from Beijing, China and is currently based in New York. Before she became a designer, it seemed that design and art had never crossed her path directly, which, nevertheless, has made her what she is today. Chen used to be a cellist, figure skater, equestrian and even fervent traveller, because she was convinced that we should not be restricted by a label. Rather, we should shatter conventional boundaries valiantly, for everything in life has something in common, including arts and design. Chen believes that the arts bond everything in life and everything is interlinked.
Most of Chen’s work are focusing on people’s relationship to other matters in the world, such as animals, space, nature etc.. And she is trying to use art as a way to show the humanity throughout different relationships. Chen's works are not dedicated to exploring the basic good or evil of humanity, instead just use her own work to appeal the truth of the humanity.
