凯迪克大奖2018
2018年2月22日，美国图书馆协会ALA(American Library Association)宣布了2018年凯迪克大奖获奖绘本：金奖1件，荣誉奖4件。
美国凯迪克大奖(The Caldecott Medal)，始于1938年，是为了纪念十九世纪英国的绘本画家伦道夫凯迪克（Randolph J. Caldecott, 1846-1886）而设立的。凯迪克大奖是美国最具权威的绘本奖，而该奖之所以能够脱颖而出，获得一致推崇，主要在于其评选标准的周延与创新，着重作品的艺术价值、特殊创意，尤其每一本得奖作品都必须有“寓教于乐”的功能，让孩子在阅读的过程中，开发另一个思考空间。通常出版商会在获得大奖、荣誉奖的图书封面，贴上印有凯迪克著名插画“骑马的约翰”的奖牌，金色代表凯迪克大奖，银色代表荣誉奖，得奖书籍会像获颁荣誉勋章的爵士一样风光。 凯迪克大奖(The Caldecott Medal)是美国最具权威的图画书奖，被认为是图画书的“奥斯卡”奖。
评选过程：每年美国图书馆协会，邀请教育学者、专业人士和图书馆员，组成评审委员会，由一个15人组成，从当年度出版的数万本书籍（儿童图画书）中，选出一名首奖和二至三名杰作，颁赠凯迪克金牌奖和荣誉奖，在得奖图书的封面上皆会贴上印有凯迪克著名插画“骑马的约翰”的奖牌，金色代表金牌奖，银色代表荣誉奖。 获奖者必须是美国公民或者居民，其作品必须是艺术家的原创，且作品在上一年出版。当两个艺术家共同创作了一部出版作品时，两人共同获奖。此类艺术家不必写故事内容。该奖评选最强调的是插图，而不是小说或文本内容。 每年一月份左右公布获奖者。

美国科罗拉多大峡谷（The Grand Canyon）位于美国亚利桑那州(Arizona)西北部，科罗拉多高原西南部。是世界上的大峡谷之一，也是地球上自然界七大奇景之一。总面积接近3000平方千米。其中，有75种哺乳动物、50种两栖和爬行动物、25种鱼类和超过300种的鸟类生存。
美籍亚裔的父亲带着女儿探索神奇的科罗拉多大峡谷。书中作者采用水彩、水粉、钢笔、油墨描绘了瑰丽的风景。从地质学、地理学、生物学等角度展示了大峡谷亿万年的形成史。
