Among the four ancient civilizations, China is the only country that was never utterly destroyed.

在过去2000年中，中国是世界上最强大的经济体。

China had been the largest economy in the world for much of the last two thousand years.

中华人民共和国成立于1949年。

The People's Republic of China was founded in 1949.

中国首都是北京市，而上海也被西方人所熟知。

Beijing is the capital city of China and Shanghai has been the well-known city to westerners.
