Today, we are talking something about Beijing’s Forbidden City.

北京故宫旧称“紫禁城”，位于北京市中心，现为故宫博物馆所在地。
Located in the centre of Beijing,the Forbidden City was formerly known as the Imperial Palace, and now is the seat of the Palace Museum.

故宫是中国明朝到清末(1420年~1912年）的皇宫。
The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming dynasty to the end of the Qing dynasty（the year 1420 to 1912）.

故宫是当今世界上现存规模最大、建筑最雄伟、保存最完整的古代建筑。
It is the existing largest, most majestic and most complete ancient buildings.

将近500年的时间，故宫既作为古代皇帝的宫殿又是中国政府的会议和行政中心。
It served as the home of emperors and their household as well as the ceremonial and political center of Chinese government for almost 500 years.

经过了明清时期的多次修缮和扩建，故宫依旧保持着原始布局。
Experiencing several times renovation and expansion during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the Forbidden City is still remaining its original layout.
