Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is blessed with a rich treasure trove of natural and cultural resources that make it a sought-after travel destination, and Guilin is one such destination coveted by domestic and international travelers alike. The mountains and waters of Guilin represent China's best, earning the accolade "East or West, Guilin landscape is the best". In 2021, Guilin was listed as a World Heritage Site. Guilin is also home to Lingqu, a World Heritage Irrigation Structure and one of the origins of Chinese pottery.
Not only does Guangxi boast the picturesque Guilin and Yangshuo, but it also has the Ban Gioc-Detian Falls, Asia's largest transnational waterfall; the thrilling Leye Tiankeng (a type of very large collapse doline) Complex in Baise; and the untarnished Silver Beach in Beihai. The Crystal Palace in Bama, the Darong Mountain in Yulin, and the Bajiaozhai Scenic Area in Ziyuan will further enrich the trip with their diverse features and unique charms.
Guangxi has a dazzling array of folk cultures and festivities. A visitor could see Yao Embroidery in Jinxiu, visit Zhuang ethnic villages in Jingxi, listen to the Dong grand song in Sanjiang Chengyangba Stockaded Village, and go to sea with the Gin fishermen in Dongxing. Xiaosang Village is the place to go for exploring Miao ethnic culture, while Xiushui Village houses a number of ancient Shuyuan (Academies of Classical Learning). Festivals of various ethnic groups in Guangxi continue throughout the year; the Yi Torch Festival, the Gin Singing Festival, the Yao Panwang Festival, and the Zhuang Double-Third Festival all make for a spectacular itinerary.
Traveling in Guangxi is replete with unparalleled culinary experiences. Guilin Rice Noodles, Nanning Old Friends Rice Noodles, Liuzhou River Snail Rice Noodles and Steamed Pork with Lipu Taro will leave the food lover wanting for more. Come have a taste of the seasons: try Yizhou Chestnut Zongzi and Zhuang Rainbow Colored Glutinous Rice in springtime, Shatian grapefruit and Yulin lychee in the summer, luscious seafood of the Beibu Gulf come fall, and hearty lamb meat of Nanning in the winter. These wonderful dishes offer a great way for you to embrace Guangxi from the tip of your tongue to the bottom of your heart.
No matter what your preferences may be, there is always something in Guangxi that will strike a chord with you.
