Yang Zheng is a contemporary poet and publisher of Jiangsu origin, who was born in Shanghai in 1968. He entered Chinese Department of Sichuan University in 1985.
Founder of the renowned experimental literary magazine "Dynastry" ("Wang Chao") and co-founder of "Pseudomorph" ("Xiang Wang"), which has been among the most influential literary magazines in the 1980s .

That was an era carved out of gold,
while millions of creatures emerged
winged-forelimbs of semi-birds skimmed over surface of the seething sea
primitive fishes, soared like arrows whistling into the sky
In the shadows of the stars, animals haunted every solitary corner
Against this age of renaissance and declination
Humans have broken loose, now standing aloof towards where gods reside, who, made us wonder, with their higher elegance and murkiness:
Are we, after all, graffiti on the great canvas of earth framed by horizons?
A fruit cracks in the blizzard of questions! A stranger
seized me and together we fell into the blankness of mind.
You opened up, wearing scarlet shades of heat on your lungs, and waited… for me
Everything was divided into smaller and smaller symmetrical structures
Aren't you tired of your air of eternal calmness, gods in the heaven?
Immortality is such a fatal disease, and all living creatures were
sheer delirium, puffed with our morbid certainty and zeal
Don’t take it seriously, life-size dolls!
Within borders of Chatters’ Country,outlined by the waning moon
There were dancing puppets, practicing ventriloquism with the topic of “a skull dashing by”
A flaming flying-fox, opening its clairvoyant eyes, stared at us from beyond this life:
Only evil is flawless!
It is the only motor that has boosted
evolution of everything, while the abyss radiated ruby and emerald gleams…
Existence itself was supported on the pillars of dialectical theory! All human walked upon earth in baggy shrouds,
soaked in splashing tears of the stars, whichfell into invisibility ultimately
Films of clouds to record everything! Adragon has seized the insurmountable old pass
But a thundering cry of the crane just stopped him far off
Things on the pile of bones were finally scorched and crumbled to ashes
It is where a river with no banks has originated, with broken shackles of time floating all over its surface
Father is descending, covered all over with his golden shimmering halo! His grass shoes have left trails on
the jade-pure mountains. Now his phototropic fingers pointed to the opposite cape where virtues breed.
Clouds unfolded themselves vividly like in rhetoric, and kept Lemuria
under its canopy. Hey, Messiah!
The king of all hammers! Like abulky-figure-to-be
clung to his delirious adolescence
when his cane knocking on the pavement
revealed the omens of a brewing storm.Gravity
has supremacy over everything, and when the element of fire
looked back on its way, it saw nothing but ashes
The Swallowtail-tongue Country, the Hollow-Chest Country, the Toe-crossed Country, the Visceraless Country…
Human-- pathetic scarecrows that have lined the world, steelyard of what are you, on earth?
All materials are but filth, immersed in quietude
So pure is evil, it does nothing but duplicates itself
Human-nature is something else, always discerning something
Always trying to convince his own heart squirming on the chopping block
Freedom! It behaves like a reserved maiden
while her motherland endured an unruly desire within to bloom
On the land of immense autumn, the grail brims with blood now
Beside the old anvil, a swallow brings theseed of a new era.

穿上肺热的阴影,继续等我
事物,被无限地细分为两面
神,呵气如兰,总不厌倦吗?
永生是一种绝症,便捏造出
众生,嘘入必然性和炎炎的
内心,别当真,充气娃娃们
残月勾描哓喋国,玩偶翩跹
肚脐在悄语某颗飞行的头颅
一只火红的狐蝠,睁开隔世
之眼,恶,才是完美无缺的!
这唯一的马达,推动了天演
深渊放射五彩弧光,对立面
托起万物,人,裹着尸骨袋
星辰如泪崩溅,坠向无所在
乌云的底片,麟龙关山夺路

竹杖橐橐,地平线迫不及待

万物为刍狗,人,谁的杆秤?
事物也是污淖,沉湎于孤茕

A Brief Introduction to
Encyclopedic Poetry School
Encyclopedic Poetry School is anavant-garde, experimental, independent and controversial literary group, basedgeographically in China, founded by epic poet Yin Xiaoyuan in 2007 which consists of “Creation Unit”, mainly composed of maverick, innovative, tradition-defying epic poets, novelists and trans-genre writers engaged inencyclopedic-poetry-focused literary experiments in themes, styles andtechniques, who are meanwhile experts in arts or science as social identities,and “Academic Consultant Unit ”, 30+ professors and scholars specialized in science and art. Poetic encyclopaedism, which has been turned into an ideological trend of contemporary Chinese poetry, emphasizes elitism, intellectualism, comprehensiveness, intertextuality and multiculturalism, which is elaborated by Yin Xiaoyuan in Hermaphroditic Writing, and an insight for in future flourishing of decryptism (from“crossover” to “jointover”), intertextualism (from “communication” to“countermunication”) and foresightism (from “introduction” to “forthduction”)
Key members of the “Creation Unit” includeSun Qian, Zhao Shuyi, Xia Wencheng, Hai Shang, Xiang Yixian, Wang Ziliang, ShanShui and Langjitianya etc.
Hermaphroditism, distilled as a sexologicalattitude in creative writing, esp. in psychological mechanism setting of characters, is a symbolization of deconstructive perceptiveness in similarities between macroscopic concept of parallel universes and microscopic definition ofparallel genders. Shattering of all types of taboos and gender barriers andself-exploration into the anima animus is highly encouraged. Liberalization and magnification are two key words for sexual expression in works of Poetic Encyclopaedist School, which discollectivized and irrelativized it from others.
Encyclopedic Poetry School pioneered combination physics, astronomy, geography, atmospheric science, geometry,biology, medicine, chemistry, history, archaeology, mathematics, psychology, aesthetics, linguistics, mythology, musicology, cinematics, linguistics,semiotics, architecture, sociology, philosophy, information technical andartificial intelligence, etc., and a systematical integration of classicism, romanticism, Symbolism, impressionism, surrealism, absurdism, expressionism,constructivism, postmodernism in poetry, esp. epics. As for style exercises,codes, Braille, entries, Excel formulas, charts, installation arts, riddles, interactive multi-ending plots, etc. have been integrated so farinto traditional literary genres. Distinguished from OULIPO andother groups, Encyclopedic Poetry School attachs more importance toguidebookish, assimilative, constructive treatment of subject matters andencyclopaedia, as well as techniques and new structures and patterns.
So far, over twenty books written by its members have been published, including trans-genre works, epics, and poetryanthologies.
