This holiday trip covers ethnic minority culture and natural beauty of Western Hunan, Zhangjiajie (the National Forest Park, Avatar mountains, Tianzi Mountain, Golden Whip Stream, Tianmen mountian and the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge) and Fenghuang old town. Internationally known as an “enlarged potted landscape” and “miniature fairyland,” the landscape boosts pavilions, bridges, caves, lakes, and waterfalls. The scenic area also has one of the rarest quartzes sandstones in the world. The majestic mountain peaks, pristine lakes and waterfalls, uniquely shaped caves, and scenic forest area will surely blow guests away.

｜Trip Itinerary｜
Day 1
Zhangjiajie Arrival
Arrive in Zhangjiajie by flight in the evening, pick up, transfer to Pullman Hotel in Wulingyuan.
Day 2
Tianzi Mountain & Yuanjiajie
Breakfast in the hotel, today you will head for one of the most famous attractions in the park and the one that attracts the most tourists – The Son of Heaven Mountain (Tianzi mountain). You will ascend the mountain by cable-car and at the top you will be able to enjoy views of Warrior Taming Horse Rock and the Western Sea which are two of the most stunning mountain formations in the whole park and are really a pleasure to see.
Then take shuttle bus and battery car to sky farmland, from where you can see some rice field on the top of pillar, which is very spectacular, hike down to a scenic platform, you can get very close to the pillar mountains, which is one of the best view in the park! Then take shuttle bus to the top of Yuanjiajie area, which is now famous because of the movie Avatar. From here, you’ll stand at the same level with the mid-age pillars, which is bigger than those on Tianzi mountain. Take super Bailong elevator down the mountain and transfer back to hotel.
Day 3
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon
Breakfast at the hotel, transfer to Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the bridge stretches between two cliffs - it’s about 430 meters long and 300 meters above the Grand Canyon. You can see the bottom of the canyon through the bridge when you are walking on it. After the Glass Bridge we either take zipline & slide OR elevator & slide (weight limit for zipline: 40kg to 80kg) down to the bottom of the canyon. Then hike along the trails in Grand Canyon, which is indeed another kind of enjoyment, you can just enjoy the quietness, beautiful waterfalls, pristine water and be very close to the nature. All you need to do is just relax yourself and be invovled in the nature.
enter Zhangjiajie national forest park, explore Golden Whip Stream Valley, famous for its pristine water, its verdant mountains, its steep cliffs and its serene valley. As a veritable paradise for plants, its pathways are adorned by an abundance of flowers, trees, and grasses. Then too, this place is a kingdom fit for various fauna-birds, fish and land animals. a leisurely walk along the winding Golden Whip Stream. The rippling or gushing sounds of running water against boulders and rocks were music to the ear. We enjoyed the serenity of the surrounding with a few interruptions from the frisky monkeys that were quick-witted to lure and catch a feed of peanuts from some of the tourists.
Day 4
Mt. Tianmen, Drive to Fenghuang
Check out in the morning, transfer to Zhangjiajie city center, and pay a visit to the sandstone painting gallery to appreciate the unique sandstone painting arts.
Then transfer to Tianmen mountain in Zhangjiajie city. As the highest mountain (1548.6m) in Zhangjiajie area, Tianmen mountain owned the longest cable car (7455m) in the world, which takes half an hour for one-way riding. On the cable car, you can have a bird view of the 99 curves Tongtian road. Enjoy the breathless walking along the glass bottom skywalk against the cliff. The 999 steps can directly reach the amazing Tianmen cave, the natural mountain-penetrating karst cave with the highest elevation in the world, hangs on the towering cliff, it is indeed a big feast of your eyes!
After the visit of Tianmen mountain,drive 3.5 hours to Fenghuang old town, stay in a hotel in old town area, in the evening walk around in old town and appreciate amazing night view, Enjoy your unforgettable time with music and drinks in a bar in a exhilarating air of the Diaojiao Lou (traditional Chinese gabled wooden houses built on stilts) on both sides of the river.
Day 5
Fenghuang - Zhangjiajie
With over 300 years of history, Fenghuang (or Phoenix) Ancient Town, is one of the best-preserved historical villages in China and listed as a World Heritage Site in 2008.
Stroll along the riverside and the narrow streets paved by flagstones, cross the river through the stepping stones, Tiaoyan (Leaping Stones), and the narrow primitive bridge near the Beimen Matou (North Gate Pier). You will also see the Gucheng Qiangcheng (the Ancient Town Wall), is located south of the river, between the North and East Gate.
Enjoy a rowing boat trip to see the Diaojiao Lou (traditional Chinese gabled wooden houses built on stilts) on both sides of the river.

Travel Tips
Must have: your original passport or ID card, some cash, mid-sized backpack, warm coat, hiking shoes, several sets of clothes and underwear etc.
Highly recommended: wipes, hand sanitizer, water bottle, snacks etc.
Bring Sunglass and sun cream, and Mosquito repellent
Private car not allowed into national park, tourists take park bus inside park, just take good care of your belongings, don’t leave it on the bus.
Be aware of the frisky monkeys rob your food in the national park, don’t feed them and neither take photos with them.
It is OK to fly drone In Zhangjiajie national park like Tianzi mount,Yuanjiajie, golden whip stream, be aware of mountain magnetic field interference affecting drone safety, make sure safe landing and make necessary backups, but it is not permitted to fly drone in Tianmen mount and Zhangjiajie grand canyon.
