韦伯《经济与社会》最新英译本，寻中文译者

这本书是韦伯名著《经济与社会》最新英译本。这个版本刚出的时候，我就介绍过及其英译者。

虽然译者Keith Tribe是个体育教练，但却真的是学者哦！只是一些个人原因离开学界或保持距离。不过，他一直保持学术产出，在牛津大学出版社等出版经济学史研究作品（尤其和韦伯相关的前后阶段）。实际上，Keith Tribe也译过韦伯的方法论文章，但只译过单篇，影响也有限。

Tribe2022年刚刚发表一篇文章，自述自己是如何接触、学习和翻译韦伯作品的。非常值得一读。我下次会专文介绍一下。

关于《经济与社会》这个新英译本，我初读的感受有六点：

第一，更易读了。这本比1978年英译本的易读度更高一些。这似乎也是近年重译韦伯的追求之一。

第二，还是较读啦。但是即使如此，韦伯作品本来还是较难读，比如你仍能感受到一些句子过长的时候，指代关系不清、插入成分打乱阅读体验。这也不能怪英译者，毕竟也要维持作者本身的风格。

第三，部分概念的翻译有调整。由于现有只译出了前几章，因此最明显的变化可能算是Herrschaft概念了。原来这个概念被译为domination（支配）或authority（权威）。这几乎成为中文的通译了。但是如果你要再读这个译本，就已经换成了rulership。所以，以前你知道的“三种支配/权威类型”（传统、卡里斯玛和法理），现在要换成什么样的中译说法才好呢？这个翻译是有道理的。很多学者都指出韦伯用Herrschaft概念不应被译为domination，应该英文表达里有强制意思，但韦伯并没有这个意思。

第四，译者认真帮助读者。比如，为你制作了词汇表，将一些概念界定清楚。韦伯2012年的方法论文集英译本，也有类似但不完全相同做法。

第五，译者也是读者。译者也是以读者的姿势，会在文中加入一些脚注，评述该部分以前的译文（如来自帕森斯等人），哪里译得不好、哪里译得还好。同时，他也会预告读者，韦伯某些部分说”自己今后会回过头探讨“等说法都是在骗你，其实并没有。有时读起来，会像看在豆瓣读书的评论~~

第六，英文电子书清晰度更高。这太影响太直接。初版是1978年的，网上流传的扫描版较为模糊，阅读感受不好。但这个毕竟非常新了，所以电子书感受较好。
