中国的“亡羊补牢”流传到英国，变色了！
日前，一名英国男子将自家牧场的羊全部喷上橙黄色，以防止被盗。因为在英国，偷羊现象非常普遍。四年来被偷了300只羊，该男子才想出此办法。
中国古代有个“亡羊补牢”的故事：
从前有一个牧民，养了几十只羊。
Once upon a time, there was a shepherd who kept several sheep.
| 牧民：mù mín, herdsman, herder
放牧：fàng mù，graze, herd, pasture
柴草：chái cǎo, straw, firewood
木桩：mù zhuāng, stake, timber pile, wood pile
一天早上，他发现少了一只羊。原来羊圈破了个窟窿，夜间狼从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。
One morning, the shepherd discovered that one of his sheep was missing.It turned
out that, during the night, a wolf had stolen his sheep through a hole in the
sheep pen.
| 窟窿：kū lóng, hole, cave
叼走：diāo zǒu，take away, carry away
邻居劝告他说：“赶快把羊圈修一修，堵上那个窟窿吧。”
His neighbor suggested to him“You
should fix the pen and cover the hole right away.”
| 劝告：quàn gào, suggest
堵上: dǔ shàng, fix, mend, cover
他说：“羊已经丢了，还去修羊圈干什么呢？”没有接受邻居的好心劝告。
But the shepherd said “The sheep is already lost, so I don’t need to repair it.”
And so he rejected the neighbor’s suggestion.

第二天早上，他去放羊，发现又少了一只羊。原来狼又从窟窿里钻进羊圈，又叼走了一只羊。
The next morning, he discovered that another sheep was missing. Once again, the
wolf stole the sheep through the hole in the fence.

这位牧民很后悔没有接受邻居的劝告，去及时采取补救措施。于是，他赶紧堵上那个窟窿，又从整体进行加固，把羊圈修得牢牢实实的。
The shepherd regretted not taking the neighbor’s advice. So he plugged the hole to
secure the sheep pen.
| 后悔：hòu huǐ, regret
采取：cǎi qǔ, take, adopt
措施：cuò shī, measure, step
从此，这个牧民的羊就再也没有被野狼叼走过了。
From then on, no more sheep was stolen by the wolf.

野狼：yě láng, wolf
牧民的故事告诉我们：“It is never too late to mend.”，也就是“补救永远不嫌太晚”。
