展览预告 | 雕塑家的维度——中美艺术交流展
由著名策展人王春辰先生和中央美术学院雕塑系主任吕品昌教授与美国著名艺术评论家普拉特学院教授Jonathan Goodman担任学术主持,并和美国艺术杂志总编辑Richard Vine博士和Lily Zhang Candler女士共同组织的“雕塑家的维度——中美艺术交流展”将于2017年6月5号在中央美术学院陶溪川美术馆展出。该展览是由中央美术学院造型学院、中国雕塑研究中心、景德镇陶瓷文化旅游集团主办,中央美术学院雕塑系、中央美术学院陶溪川美术馆、纽约Guarsh art共同承办。
这一国际艺术交流作品展,包括15位艺术家的雕塑、绘画、素描及版画作品。该展览呈现了两种截然不同文化的艺术成果,在艺术家的艺术实践历程及作品的艺术呈现当中,都有着它们的相似之处。通过将这些作品聚集在这个展览中,使得他们的艺术思考及各种媒介的实践,在相互交集中变得更为清晰。
在这个展览当中,Yaacov Agam是现代绘画和雕塑艺术的先锋者。他在光学和"动态艺术"的探索中作出了贡献。
Serena Bocchino采用多样的材料作为媒介,在二维及三维的空间上,通过鲜艳的颜色和线条,进行“动态空间”的实验,意欲消除绘画和雕塑之间的界限。
Chakaia Booker利用工业材料来回应时代与文化的社会学问题。
Elizabeth Murray通过在绘面的边缘上展开空间上的拓张,进行介入雕塑层面的联系,形成了一种新的表达。
Thomas Nozkowski通过并列生成的方式,形成抽象的形状和模式,拓展了传统构图在绘画的表达。
Nancy Spero的作品阐释了社会和文化的现象。
Nola Zirin通过设想中的虚拟“球体”把握,使得几何形状所构造出的现象更为丰富。
曹晖的“去肌肤”后的物件,触发了观众的惊讶、悲伤、愤怒等情绪。
黄镇由中国水墨艺术的“特殊精神”联系人与“自然”之间的关系。
金锋的作品灵感来自中国书法,但他的大量生活经历是在西方,这对他的工作有很大的影响,在东西方之间做出了具体的考量。
李展通过对木头材料的潜在条件进行发展,这是一个充满智慧和想象力的过程。
牟柏岩通过描绘超重的人体在各种有趣的形式和场景中,进行拷问在不同历史和文化背景当中的“超重”和“溺爱”。
孙璐的作品通过将自然创造与工业创造结合起来,引起我们对科学与规范的痴迷和质疑。
萧立在探索中国本土文化的思维方式,如何在当代艺术创作当中的实践。
徐晓楠的作品表现出了长期研究中国传统造像经历的强烈气息。
在这次展览中,艺术家用实践进行了不同维度的呈现。本次展览中的15位艺术家,所创作的作品是具有表现力和突破性的,在艺术创作中形成了新的见解和方法。这次展览中的多元文化因素,强调了艺术家跨越边界的能力,并展示了世界各地艺术家的共同思考。

By the famous Curator Mr.Wang Chunchen,and American art magazine editorin chief,Dr Richard Vine,and Ms Lily Zhang Candler.Professor Lv Pinchang ,whois the director of the sculpture department in CAFA,and the famous American artcritic, the Professor of Pratt Institute ,Jonathan Goodman,served as theacademic chair of the exhibition.Co-organized "Sculptor’s Dimensions -- -- Sino-US Art Exchange Exhibition" the international exhibition will be onJune 5, 2017 ,in Taoxichuan Art Museum of CAFA.The exhibition is hosted by School of Fine Arts of CAFA and Jingdezhen CeramicCulture Tourism Group.OrganizedbySculpture Department of China CentralAcademy of Fine Arts and the New York Guarshart.
This International ArtExchange includes Sculpture and paintings, drawings and prints by 15 artists.This exhibition demonstrates the work of two very different cultures that inactuality are similar in term of their art practices and the objectives thatthey achieve. By bringing these cultures together in this ambitious exhibitionof 15 international artists- their concepts become clear in terms of a varietyof media and processes. Each work in this large group exhibition exposes thesimilarities of paintings, prints and sculptures within the context of line,shape, color, space, composition and time.
It is these foundationalelements in which these artists work that conclude the concept of “SculptureDimensions”.
The artists representing the U.S.A. are: Yaacov Agam who is a master of opticaland kinetic art. He is an Op art pioneer in both painting and sculpture. Serena Bocchino utilizes vibrant colorand lines in various media to create “dynamic space” in her compositions of twoand three dimensions, with the objective of eliminating the walls betweenpainting and sculpture. Chakaia Bookeruses industrial media to respond to sociological issues of our time and theAmerican culture. Elizabeth Murrayhas stretched the perimeter of painting to make her paintings become sculpturalbeyond the grid of painting history to a new level of shaped canvases. Thomas Nozkowski’s intimate abstractpaintings juxtapose biomorphic shapes with patterns and a personal palette thatchallenges the ideas of traditional composition in painting. Nancy Spero is a painter and feministartist whose expressive work is characterized by its figurative interpretationof sociopolitical and cultural issues. AndNola Zirin’s recent paintings navigate the use of geometric forms in theconstruction of imaginary environments. She is known for her use of multi mediato enhance the complexity of the paintings through virtual orbs that mirror themacro and micro layers of the world around us.
Cao Hui is best knownfor his oversized and shockingly realistic sculptures of half-flayed objects.His primary aim, he says, is to “trigger the viewer’s emotions: surprise,sorrow, anger, sadness or laughter”. HuangZhen is known for his large-scale landscape wire sculptures. He has longbeen fascinated with the “special spirit” of Chinese ink art, which has servedas a vehicle of reflection on our relationship with the universe. Jin Feng`s works are inspired byChinese calligraphy but hisexperience of living in the west has had a great influence on his work, whichserves as a great perspectiveto view theEast and West. Li Zhan’s workingmode is developing the process of woodsculpture according to the potential conditions, a process filled with wisdomand imagination. Mu Boyan is knownfor his iconic work that depicts an overweight man in various amusing forms andscenarios to explore the “overweight” and “overindulged” in differenthistorical and cultural contexts. SunLu`s work shows our fascination and questions towards science andtechnology through combining the natural creation with the industrial creation. Xiao Li explores Chinese traditional “Five Elements—Gold, Wood,Water, Fire, Earth” through contemporary practice. And Xu Xiaonan studies the Chinese traditional artifacts techniques.
The artists in this exhibition are pushingthe boundaries in their chosen practice. The 15 artists included in thisexhibition are creating work that is expressive and breaking new ground inwhich to establish new concepts and methods in art making. The multi-culturalelement in this exhibition emphasizes the artist’s abilities to crossboundaries and demonstrates the collective consciousness that exists with inartists throughout the world. The verynature of this show engages areas of harmony amongst the cultures demonstratedwith in this all-encompassing exhibition.
