TNT:请简单的介绍自己。

TNT: Please introduce yourself briefly.


卢西安诺:我的名字是卢西安诺,我是一位深受怀旧和记忆启发的巴西艺术家——被强烈的好奇心所指引去寻找深层意义,我于 2016 年来到亚洲并且在中国找到了我的家和研究基地。

我在拉丁美洲和亚洲从事视觉艺术工作已超过15 年——我与耐克、亚马逊和 Facebook 等品牌建立了合作关系,并与圣保罗艺术博物馆合作多年,此外还在欧洲设计学院的创意课程中担任教师。

Luciano: My name is Luciano and I am a Brazilian artist deeply inspired by nostalgia and memories - I arrived in Asia in 2016 guided by an intense curiosity and in search of deep meanings and found my home and research place in China.

I've worked on the visual arts circuit for over 15 years from Latin America and now in Asia – I've created collaborations with brands like Nike, Amazon and Facebook and cooperated with the São Paulo Museum of Art for many years in addition to being a teacher of creative processes at the European Institute of Design.

TNT:在你的作品中可以看到很多流行文化的元素,特别是漫画人物,为什么选择这些文化元素作为叙事主体?

TNT: There are many popular culture elements in your artworks, especially the comic figures. Why did you choose these elements in your artworks as the main narrative?


卢西安诺:近几年来我一直在进行流行文化元素的实验,作为一名艺术家,我的使命是与人们建立普遍的情感联系——当你使用流行文化元素时,大多数人或多或少都会熟悉它们,然后他们会立即认出你作品中的元素。

Luciano: I’ve been experimenting with popular culture elements for several years, my mission as an artist is to create a universally emotional connection with people – when you utilize popular culture elements, they are somehow familiar to most people and they instantly recognize themselves into your work.

TNT:可以给我们介绍一下《完美振动能量》背后的创作故事吗?

TNT: Can you tell us the story behind Good Vibes Energy?


卢西安诺:当我创造《完美振动能量》时,我想给来自“必比登”的“米其林”人物带来快乐和幸福感。我一直在寻找世界上大部分地区都熟悉但同时在中国也很熟悉的东西。你可以在每个国家的小镇的轮胎店里找到这个角色,他很顽皮,很快乐,但他的颜色是毫无光泽的,所以我想添加一层新的感官体验,对比和喜悦。使用霓虹灯、色彩、镜子带来视觉错觉——在这件作品中,他是稻草人的反面,在那里向观众散发这些美好的感觉,人们瞬间产生好奇被吸引,于是当他们靠的更近一些,他们会以一种好的方式被催眠。

Luciano: When I created Good Vibes Energy, I wanted to bring a sense of joy and happiness to the original character “Bibendum” the “Michelin Man”. I was looking for something that was familiar in most parts of the world but at the same time in China as well. You can find this character in tire shops in small towns in every single country, he is playful and happy but his colours are very opaque so I wanted to add a new layer of sensory experience, contrast, and joy bringing the optical illusion using the neons, the colours, and mirrors – in this piece, he is the opposite of a scarecrow, where that emits these good feelings to the audience, people feel attracted and curious instantly and get closer, they feel hypnotized, in a good way.

TNT:基于你的一系列作品思想内核,你是否想要挑战当代艺术的“原创性”?

TNT: According to the ideological core of your series artworks, do you want to challenge the originality of contemporary art?


卢西安诺:是的,我的艺术作品的主要目的之一就是挑战当代艺术的现状和美学——大多数时候当代艺术感觉非常清醒和严肃,我想做一些看起来完全大胆和强烈的东西。大多数人内心都有某种程度的疯狂,他们需要控制以适应社会,作为一名艺术家,我想让自己把疯狂体现。

Luciano: Yes, one of the main purposes of my works of art is to challenge the status quo and aesthetics of contemporary art – most of the time contemporary art feels very sober and serious, I would like to make something that looks completely bold and intense. Most people have some degree of craziness inside of them that they need to control to fit into society, as an artist, I want to put this out of myself.

TNT:安迪·沃霍尔对你的意义是怎样的?复制和重复的艺术语言在现当代作品中被使用的很多,那么你是如何定义自己的“工厂”?

TNT: What does Andy Warhol mean to you? The artistic language of copying and repetition is used a lot in modern and contemporary artworks, so how do you define your own ‘factory’?


卢西安诺:安迪对我来说是一个深刻的灵感来源,基于他在 60 年代的“工厂”概念,我决定以我今天的方式制作艺术作品。

复制和重复是创造力的基石。这是创造力开始的地方,没有人可以在不知道如何复制和重复之前创造出新的东西。每次我创造新的东西时,会有4个阶段,我先复制,接着组合,然后转换,最后“解构”。

Luciano: Andy is a deep inspiration for me, was based on his concept idea of “The Factory” in the 60s that I decided to produce the works of art the way I produce today.

Copy and repetition is the ground rule for creativity. This is where creativity starts and nobody can create something new without knowing how to copy and repeat it first. Every time I create something new I copy first then I combine, then transform and I finally “deconstruct”, there are 4 stages.

TNT:你是如何定义自己的艺术家身份的?

TNT: How do you define your identity as an artist? 


卢西安诺:我是我所有经历和记忆的集合体——我复制、组合、扭曲和改造我所爱的一切。而这个对事物的总结就是我的真实自我——而我真实的自我就是你在我的作品中看到的。你看到我创造的一切对我来说都是非常有意义和真实的。

Luciano: I am a combination of all my experiences and memories – I copy, combine, distort and transform everything I love. And this summary of things it's my true self – and my true self is what you see on my artwork. Everything you see that I create is very meaningful and true to me.

TNT:在TNT的驻地期间,为你的创作和思想带来了什么新的改变?

TNT: During your art residency at TNT Art in Residence, what new changes have you brought to your creation and thinking?


卢西安诺:TNT给了我良好的条件和工具,让我与自己和中国联系起来,更好地理解这些概念,这无疑是我艺术生涯中非常重要的一个阶段。

Luciano: TNT gave me the right conditions and tools to connect with myself and China and understand better these concepts, it was certainly a very important stage of my art career.

TNT:你的很多作品体现的都是西方流行文化中的代表性元素,那么你接下来的创作会融入中国元素吗?

TNT: Many of your artworks reflect representative elements of Western popular culture. Will your next creation incorporate Chinese elements? 


卢西安诺:当然,我有很多想法让我的作品加入更多中国元素。我很想用“旺旺牛奶”和“海南椰树牌椰汁”做一些艺术作品。

Luciano: Definitely, I have many ideas in mind to bring more Chinese elements to my work, I would love to do some works of art using “Want Want Milk” and “Hainan Coconut Water”.
