In the USA and the UK,some people don'tlike the number 13.
在美国和英国，有些人不喜欢数字13。
They don't think 13 is a good number.
他们认为13是个不好的数字。
For example,they don't like to live on thethirteenth floor.
例如，他们不喜欢住在13楼。
It was May 4th,Jack's birthday.
五月四号是杰克的生日。
He asked some of his friends to dinner.
他邀请了一些朋友吃晚餐。
When everyone sat around the table,
当每个人都围着桌子坐下的时候，
Jack began to count the people. 杰克开始数人数。
Suddenly,he cried,"Oh,there are 13people here!"
突然，他喊道，“哦，这儿有13个人！”
Everyone was worried but Mrs Brown,Jack'smother.
每个人都很担心除了布朗夫人，杰克的妈妈。
She said slowly with a smile,
她面带微笑慢慢的说，
"Don't worry,children! We havefourteen people here.
别担心，孩子们！我们这儿有十四个人。
I am going to have a baby in threemonths."
我在三个月后要生下一个宝宝。
They all became happy again.
他们都变得快乐起来。
They enjoyed the nice food and had a goodtime that night.
那晚他们吃的很开心，玩的很高兴。
