Job description
The Fixed Income Research Full-time Analyst Program begins in mid-July with direct placement on a desk. With a flat structure, the Analyst Program includes the opportunity to collaborate and learn from experienced professionals and to participate in practical workshops, a structured mentor-and-buddy program and organised social events.
Traning program
Analysts begin with the Firmwide Institutional Securities training program in London with peers from Institutional Equity, Fixed Income, Investment Banking, Global Capital Markets, Equity Research, Investment Management and Private Wealth Management. The training covers financial modelling, capital markets and enables Analysts to gain a broad understanding of each business in the Institutional Securities Group. Analysts then undertake the Sales & Trading specific training, which generally consists of intensive IT training, Excel and desk-specific applications, practical skills sessions and Regulatory exam FCA preparation. Analysts have several opportunities to network with peers in Research and Sales & Trading, mentors and managers through team-building sessions and other organised events.
Responsibilities
Develop investment recommendations on Fixed Income Securities through the study of market fundamentals, technical and quantitative research.
Create models to quickly identify major disconnects across-asset classes.
Contribute to the writing of reports for our clients that are clear, insightful and help their investment process.
Maintain constant dialogue with our colleagues in sales and trading discussing market colour and the impact of incoming data on our published view
Qualifications/Skills/Requriements
Graduating in 2017 or 2018 with either an undergraduate or masters degree from any degree discipline. A financial discipline is not essential, but you must have a strong interest in the financial markets with excellent quantitative and analytical skills.
You have a strong interest in data science, understand fundamentals of econometrics and have some experience with, or are willing to learn to use, statistical packages: e.g., Eviews, Matlab, R, Stata.
You are familiar with, or are willing to learn, programming languages.
You are fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
You possess intellectual curiosity, focus and creativity, and have a keen research instinct with creative problem-solving abilities.
You have an entrepreneurial spirit, and are driven to deliver results.
You are committed to maintaining high professional and ethical standards.
Start date flexible between January and June 2018
