你小时候爱吃的上好佳,背后有个充满情怀的故事丨40年40人

上好佳是中国许多80后、90后的童年记忆,很多人以为它是个上海品牌,但其实上好佳源于菲律宾。



叫Oishi是因为虾片虾条的技术是从日本引进购买的,所以取了与日文“oishii”相近的单词作名字,取“好吃”之意。

近日,中国日报采访小分队专程来到上好佳菲律宾的生产基地,与虾片虾条来了一次亲密接触,拍下了零食宝宝们从出生到成品的前世今生。

我们还到上好佳董事长施恭旗先生家里进行了独家采访。


施先生是一位和蔼可亲的菲律宾华裔,这一次,他首次在镜头前讲述上好佳当年进入中国市场时的波折故事,并透露了他作为“菲律宾总统中国特使”多年来的心愿。


To the post-80s and 90s generation in China, Oishi means their childhood taste. Many think it is a Chinese brand, but it was established by a Filipino enterprise, the Liwayway Group. The company had a rocky start: bureaucratic red tape and workers suspicious of working for foreigners. Nevertheless, the company became one of China’s great success stories, under the reform and opening-up policy. 


The company bought its production machinery from Japan and took “Oishi” as its brand name, the Japanese word meaning “tasty”.

China Daily interviewed the company’s chairman, Carlos Chan (Chinese name: Shi Gongqi) at his home. Chan is a Chinese Filipino. He has been named as special envoy to China by three Philippines presidents. He recalled the difficulties he encountered entering the Chinese market in 1993 but also of his emotional ties to China and his family legacy.

施恭旗被外媒称为“Mr Oishi”,然而零食大王年少时的梦想不是成为一名实业家,他痴迷的是艺术。

1941年,施恭旗出生于菲律宾华裔家庭,父母是福建移民。施恭旗出生后的第五年,父母创办了晨光食品有限公司,主做咖啡和淀粉等产品的代理销售,1975年,开始生产上好佳休闲食品。


施恭旗说:“从小学到中学,我一直在学画画,那时候真的很喜欢画画,想成为一个画家。” 读大学的时候,施恭旗学了与艺术和设计相关的建筑专业。

“但因为家里我是老大,所以肯定要继承家业。那时候父亲年纪比较大了,我到了大学要半工半读,学做生意。”


然而艺术从未远离施恭旗的生活,他总会参与上好佳的工厂设计,并因为喜爱看华人电影而向往中国的市场。


“当时在华人街的影片都是上海拍的,对我影响很大。”


“我有上海情结,知道它是中国的商业中心、经济中心,很向往这个城市。”

在施恭旗的印象中,上海是个“很繁华、很进步”的地方,然而80年代去到上海之后,施恭旗却发现,上海并没有想象中开放和发达。


“上海人穿的衣服只有一个颜色。”


“很多人跟我说上海很穷,上海人没有钱,生意难做,可我就是不信。”


即使亲眼目睹了百业待兴的上海,施恭旗也从未放弃过进军上海、拓展中国市场的梦。


有好几次施恭旗从菲律宾飞到上海,商务舱里只有他一个人。他用耐心度过了漫长的等待,将空白期视为“旅游和考察”。


1992年,他等的机会,来了。


When Chan’s opportunity to visit Shanghai came in the 1980s, he was disappointed. The prosperity he expected was not there, but he saw a city awaiting revitalization.


Chan said almost all people in Shanghai wore the classic blue, typical of the working class in China, at that time.


Many people told Chan that China was poor, that the Chinese were poor, and that it was difficult to do business in China.


Chan refused to be swayed and continued planning to do business in Shanghai.


“Several times, on flights to Shanghai, I was the only one sitting in business class,” he said.


In 1992, Chan’s diligence produced reward.



“没有邓小平,我们今天不相识”


1992年1月18日至2月21日期间,邓小平在中国深圳、珠海、广州、上海等地巡视并发表“南巡讲话”,提出“改革开放胆子要大一些,敢于试验……大胆地试,大胆地闯”。随后,中国明确提出在社会主义条件下,大胆利用外资来促进经济发展。


施恭旗笑着回忆道:“当时我有一些朋友在上海告诉我说,‘现在你可以进来了。’”

1993年,上好佳与上海虾片厂合作,开始投资设厂。一段时间后,派去中国的菲律宾经理却打电话给施恭旗说,“做不下去了。工人的反应很强,有很多的意见。”


施恭旗说,“当时可能是因为意识形态的问题,上海的工人觉得资本家是不好的,都是要来剥削的。”


施恭旗决定亲自飞到上海,跟工人们面谈。


“一开始工人们不让我坐下,后来谈着谈着,觉得我的态度挺好的,就拿过来椅子让我坐。”

除了加强沟通,施恭旗还在改善用工环境方面做了很多努力。上好佳的机器要24小时运转,夜晚工人们去食堂吃饭很冷,在中国长江以南的地区都是没有暖气的,施恭旗却毫不犹豫地给工人们安装了暖气。当时工人们的工资每月只有200元,施恭旗每年都会主动给工人们增加工资。


“我想增加他们对资方的信心,让他们相信,只要公司有效益,他们也会有好处。”


“后来工人们笑着对我说,‘资本家也不错嘛!’”

如今的上好佳在中国休闲食品的市场占有率位列前三,年销售金额达30多亿元,在中国拥有15家全资分公司,员工总数达7500人,位列世界华商500强。

中国的市场使得上好佳品牌一跃而起,施恭旗本人亦在今年的福布斯菲律宾富豪榜上位列第21。


成功背后,施恭旗对中国有着更深层的感情。


That year, Deng Xiaoping, the chief architect of the reform and opening-up policy, made a tour of southern China. Deng urged his countrymen to be audacious in their efforts to reform the economy. New policies were promoted, foreign investment was welcomed, and the socialist system adopted a more open attitude. 


"I already had some friends in Shanghai,” Chan explained. “They told me ‘now it is time’”.


In 1993, Chan began investing in Shanghai. He set up factories in cooperation with a Shanghai factory that was already producing shrimp crackers. 


Today, Oishi ranks among the top 3 snack brands in China. Its annual sales in China have reached 3 billion yuan. The company now has 15 wholly-owned subsidiaries, more than 7,500 workers in China and it ranks among the global Top 500 companies owned by Chinese entrepreneurs.


This year, Forbes List of Wealthy Filipinos ranked Chan in 21st place. To Chan, China is not only the country where he gained his greatest business success, but also “his homeland and root”.

施恭旗与妻子


施恭旗一直有个心愿,“希望中菲友好”。


他说,“这不只是我的心愿,也是所有菲律宾华人的心愿。”


“我虽然拿着菲律宾的国籍,但体内流的是中国人的血。” 


现在,施恭旗的四个儿子有两个在中国定居工作,七个孙子、孙女都在上海读书生活,成了“新上海人”。


施恭旗一家回到福建晋江


他常带着妻儿老小一大家子回到福建晋江老家,看着家乡的路越来越好,从土路变成柏油路,又通了高铁,回家的路越来越方便了。


每每看到家乡路边的石头,施恭旗都心生感慨。


“石头多,能种的田地就很少,很多人没办法就出去谋生。”


“年轻的时候中国穷,我们到菲律宾被当地人瞧不起,人家觉得我们是因为贫穷才投靠到菲律宾来的。”


“可现在不一样了,中国很发展(发展得很快),我希望带他们去看看,改变他们的印象。”


施恭旗被任命为“菲律宾总统中国特使”


施恭旗曾三次被特别任命为“菲律宾总统中国特使”,他本人也将促进中菲民间交往作为自己事业的一部分,每年邀请中菲两国官员互访。


迄今,施恭旗已在社会公益事业方面捐资5000多万元。


在文化交流方面,施恭旗作为菲律宾宋庆龄基金会的董事长,曾邀请中国福利会东方小伙伴艺术团赴马尼拉为庆祝中菲建交30周年演出,每年也邀请菲律宾的少儿艺术团到中国交流学习。


今年77岁的施恭旗,早已履行了他继承家业的责任,现在正享受着他“想要的自由”。除了艺术,他还喜欢旅游:


“全中国各个省,我都去过了。我小学、中学念地理时,我就希望能都去,后来实现了。”


“我感到很自豪,也很骄傲,今天的中国是不一样了。”


施恭旗希望中菲之间延续了600年的情谊能继续下去,而上好佳则是千千万万纽带中的一环。


His wish, a wish that he shared with Chinese-Filipinos everywhere, was that China and the Philippines remain friends.


“Although we have Philippine nationality, the blood flowing through our veins is still Chinese,” he said.


“When we were young, China was so poor that we were somehow looked down upon by local people. They felt that we Chinese were taking refuge from poverty in the Philippines,” he said.


Now things have changed and Chan wanted other Filipinos to witness the Chinese miracle.


He expresses proud of China’s achievements in which he has played a part.
