美国高中生给习近平写了一封信，习主席回信了

近日，国家主席习近平复信美国伊利诺伊州北奈尔斯高中学生，勉励同学们为增进中美人民友谊作出贡献。

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent a reply letter to a group of U.S. high school students, encouraging them to make contributions to promoting friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.

此前，北奈尔斯高中中文班40多名学生用中文写信给习近平，询问习近平的工作、生活情况和个人爱好，表示他们正在学习中文，喜爱中国的语言文字、音乐和中餐，希望有机会来中国参观访问。

The group of over 40 students from Niles North High School in Illinois state, the United States, have written in Chinese to Xi, asking him about his work, life and hobbies.

The students said in their letter that they are studying Chinese, that they love Chinese language and characters, as well as music and Chinese food, and that they would love to have the chance to visit China.

习近平在给北奈尔斯高中学生的回信中表示：

感谢你们的来信，我从信中感受到你们对中文的爱好和对中华文化的兴趣。学习中文可以更好了解中国，结识更多中国朋友，也可以结识很多会说中文的世界各国朋友。

In his reply letter to the students, Xi thanked them for their letter, saying he feels their love for the Chinese language and their interest in the Chinese culture.

Studying Chinese helps better understand China, make more Chinese friends, and also make many friends who can speak Chinese across the world, Xi said.

你们的汉语书写工整、用词规范，“太棒了”！我希望你们继续“加油”，在中文学习上取得更大进步。

He praised the students' neat writing and correct wording in Chinese, and encouraged them to continue the efforts to achieve greater progress in Chinese learning.

我曾多次访问美国，那里优美的风光、热情的人民、多元的文化给我留下深刻印象，也结交了很多美国朋友，包括美国青年朋友。

"I have visited the United States for many times, and was deeply impressed by the beautiful scenery, hospitable people and diverse culture there. I have also made many American friends, including young friends," the president said.

我的工作是为人民服务，很累，但很愉快。

"My job is to serve the people. It is very tiring, but also very fulfilling," he added.

我对哲学、历史、文学、文化、音乐、体育等都有浓厚兴趣，我的很多爱好从中学时代就养成了，一直保持到现在。

The president said he has strong interest in philosophy, history, literature, culture, music and sports, among others, adding that many of his hobbies have been kept since his middle school years.

青年一代是中美友好的未来。希望同学们珍惜韶华、努力学习，为增进中美人民友谊作出贡献。

Calling the young generation the future of China-U.S. friendship, Xi said he hopes that the students will cherish their youth, study hard and make contributions to promoting friendship between the Chinese and American peoples.

百闻不如一见。欢迎你们有机会来中国看看。

Noting that it is better to see something once than to hear about it a hundred times, the president said the students are welcome to visit China.

习近平的复信在北奈尔斯高中引起积极热烈反响。师生们表示，从这封复信中感受到习近平主席的平易近人、和蔼可亲，习主席对中美两国青少年的关心关爱令全体师生倍感亲切、倍受感动；习主席来信将激励更多当地学生学习中文、了解中国文化并参与中美友好交流。

Xi's letter was met with an enthusiastic response in Niles North High School, where teachers and students said they can feel Xi's amiability and are moved by his care for young people in China and the United States.

Xi's letter will encourage more local students to learn Chinese, know about Chinese culture and participate in friendly exchanges between the two countries, they added.

北奈尔斯高中（Niles North High School）是美国伊利诺伊州（state of Illinois）一所公立学校（public school），成立于1964年，现有学生两千多名。该校重视国际交流，鼓励学生学习外语，自2008年起开设中文课程，选修人数已拓展至11个班。

Hello.

我们是美国芝加哥的高中生。我们的学校是北奈尔斯高中，在美国的伊利诺伊州。我们现在学中文，我们想用中文给您写信。

We are high school students from Chicago. Our school is Niles North High School in Illinois state in the United States. As we are studying Chinese now, we would like to write to you in Chinese.

我们喜欢说中文，也喜欢我们的中文老师。我们喜欢写汉字和吃中国菜。我们喜欢说“太棒了”、“我爱你”、“朋友”、“加油”、“马马虎虎”、“汉堡包”和“累”。我们都喜欢听音乐。可是，我们都不喜欢做功课。

Do you like your job? Is it tiring? Do you have any friends? Do you speak English? How old are you? Which country's cuisine do you like? What are your hobbies? Do you like the United States?
