在25日的外交部例行记者会上，CNN记者在问到英国39人货车遇难案时称，新中国成立70周年来取得了很多成就，为什么中国公民却通过这种极端危险的方式离开中国？
对此，外交部发言人华春莹表示，你先入为主，设定遇难者就是中国人，把案件和我们庆祝新中国成立70周年联系在一起，这个出发点很有问题，你到底希望得到什么答案？

问：关于在英国发生的悲剧，我们理解目前详细信息有限，但希望你提供一些背景。你之前提到，为庆祝中国过去70年取得的巨大成就和进步，本月初中方举行了国庆相关活动。但中国公民却通过这种极端危险的方式离开中国，他们是出于何种动机？外界应该如何理解？

首先，我刚才回答路透社问题时已经说了，我们正在与英国警方保持密切联系，英国警方表示仍然在核实遇难者身份，目前尚无法确认是否为中国公民。
First, like I said earlier to the Reuters journalist, we are in close contact with the British police who are still verifying the identity of the victims and could not confirm whether they were Chinese nationals at this point.
我觉得在目前情况下，我们每个人都为这39个逝去的生命感到悲哀。我们也在想，到底发生了什么？我们希望世界各国能够加强合作，打击非法偷渡或者非法移民问题，对不对？我觉得当务之急是要查清事实真相，要想办法解决此类问题。
Under the current circumstances, I believe everyone is saddened by the 39 lost souls, wondering what happened to them. We hope all countries will step up cooperation in countering human trafficking and illegal migration, don't we? The urgent task is to find out what actually happened and find ways to address similar issues.

In your question you presumed those victims were Chinese and linked this case with the 70th anniversary of the founding of the PRC. This is a problem. It exposes something in your mind or rather, in the mind of some American media that you represent. What kind of answer did you hope to get from that?

Like I said earlier, as we are now in the 70th year after the founding of the PRC, the Chinese people's happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment and security comes at an unprecedented level. All 1.4 billion Chinese are proud of our country's great achievements.
环顾世界，有严重非法移民问题的不是中国。相反，我知道有越来越多的外国朋友希望到中国来学习，来旅游，来工作，甚至希望在中国永久定居，我觉得这本身就很能说明问题。

▌英国埃塞克斯警方：已逮捕4名嫌疑人，呼吁公众不要过多关注遇难者国籍
当地时间25日晚间，英国埃塞克斯警方召开发布会，进一步公布了“39人货车遇难案”的细节。
警察表示，目前已有4人因为涉嫌谋杀、过失杀人、人口走私罪名被逮捕（arrested on suspicion of murder, manslaughter and people trafficking ），包括货车司机在内，都已被拘留。
警方同时呼吁媒体和公众不要过多关注遇难者国籍，并鼓励公众提供线索：
The force will not be commenting on any speculation about the nationalities of those who have tragically lost their lives.
警方不会评论任何关于那些悲惨遇难的人们的国籍的猜测。
I strongly urge journalists and people on social media not to speculate about the identities of those involved or the circumstances surrounding this investigation.
我强烈呼吁记者和网民不要再揣测相关人士的身份或案件调查的情况。
We gave an initial steer on Thursday on nationality however this is now a developing picture.

▌驻英大使最新回应：各国应携手防止悲剧重演，中方随时配合协助英国警方
当地25日晚，中国驻英国大使刘晓明表示：“无论遇难者们来自哪里，我们的心都与他们同在。这件事再次引起全世界对非法移民问题的关注。世界各国应该携手采取坚决措施，防止悲剧再一次发生。”
刘晓明同时强调，中方对此高度重视，动员了多个政府部门准备随时配合英国警方提供必要的协助。
