有记者提问，上周，外交部发言人就《华尔街日报》发表辱华文章要求《华尔街日报》公开正式道歉并查处相关责任人，请问《华尔街日报》是否已就中方要求做出回应？
2月3日，《华尔街日报》刊发美国巴德学院教授米德（Walter Russell Mead）撰写的评论文章。该文诋毁中国政府和中国人民抗击疫情的努力，报社编辑还为文章加上了《中国是真正的“亚洲病夫”》这种带有种族歧视色彩的耸人听闻标题，引起中国人民的极大愤慨和国际社会广泛谴责。On February 3, the WSJ published an article by Professor Walter Russell Mead of the Bard College. The article discredits the Chinese government and people's efforts to fight the epidemic. The unfortunate editorial choice of adding the racially-discriminatory title China Is the Real Sick Man of Asia triggered indignation and condemnation among the Chinese people and the international community.
《华尔街日报》文章截图：《中国是真正的“亚洲病夫”》中方已就此多次向《华尔街日报》提出严正交涉，阐明中方的严正立场，要求《华尔街日报》认识到错误的严重性，公开正式道歉并查处相关责任人，同时保留对该报采取进一步措施的权利。The Chinese side lodged stern representations with the WSJ repeatedly to make clear our solemn position on this and demand that it recognize the severity of its mistake, make an official apology publicly and hold the persons involved accountable. Meanwhile we reserve the right to take further actions.但遗憾的是，《华尔街日报》迄今仍在推诿、搪塞，既未公开正式道歉，也未查处相关责任人。However, regrettably, what the WSJ has done so far is nothing but fudging the issue and dodging its responsibility. It has neither issued an official apology nor done anything on accountability.中方依法依规处理外国记者事务。对于发表种族歧视言论、恶意抹黑攻击中国的媒体，中国人民不欢迎。鉴此，中方决定从即日起，吊销《华尔街日报》三名驻京记者的记者证。China handles affairs related to foreign journalists in accordance with laws and regulations. The Chinese people do not welcome media that speak racially-discriminatory languages and maliciously slander and attack China. As such, it is decided that from today, the press credentials of three WSJ journalists will be revoked.中方将继续按照国际惯例，依法为各国记者在华采访提供支持和便利。China will continue to support and facilitate foreign journalists' press coverage in China in accordance with international common practice.

2月3日，《华尔街日报》的文章《中国是真正的亚洲病夫》激起网民们的怒火，文章借疫情对中国进行带有种族主义色彩的攻击，唱衰中国经济。
文章作者——美国保守派外交学者米德（Walter Russell Mead）9日首度发推回应此事。他傲慢甩锅给文章编辑，声称：A word to my new Chinese followers: at American newspapers, writers typically do NOT write or approve the headlines. Argue with the writer about the article content, with the editors about the headlines.
我想对新关注我的中国人说，在美国报界，作者通常不为自己的文章撰写或批准标题。对文章内容有异议，找作者；对标题有异议，找编辑。
然而就在前一日（2月8日），米德还转发他人推特，称“中国政府无权管我们取什么标题”（the CPC “does not get to dictate our headlines”）。
有网民于6日将此事发到白宫请愿网站上，要求《华尔街日报》向华人社区道歉，修改标题或删掉文章。 该请愿在2月10日已提前并超额完成10万的请愿目标，签名数仍在不断增加中。2月6日，我国外交部发言人华春莹已在线上记者会上对文章作者米德进行点名批评：

Walter Russell Mead, you should be ashamed of your words, your arrogance, your prejudice and your ignorance.
我想提请米德先生注意以下几组数字：2009年美国爆发的H1N1禽流感死亡率高达17.4%。另外，根据美国疾病控制与预防中心1月底公布的报告，2019-2020年美国流感季已经导致1900万人感染，至少1万人死亡。对比这次中国肺炎疫情的实际情况，请问Mead先生，你又作何评论呢？I want to draw Mr. Mead's attention to the following facts. The H1N1 flu that broke out in the US in 2009 has a mortality rate as high as 17.4%, and according to the report by the US CDC issued at the end of January, the 2019-2020 seasonal influenza in the US has infected 19 million people and killed at least 10,000 people. Compared with the current pneumonia outbreak in China, Mr. Mead, anything more you'd like to say?
