工作室画廊很高兴宣布参加2021年油罐玩家艺术节，届时⼯作室画廊将携手弱电子制造厂于「展位A18 」呈现以“弱电工程”为主题的“艺术家房间”，期待在这个十一假期与大家见面。

Studio Gallery is pleased to announce its participation in the“ 2021 Tank Art Festival ” for four days from 9.30 to 10.03. Studio Gallery will be exhibiting an art project in collaboration with Weak Current Manufacturing Co. Ltd at booth A18.  We are thrilled to meet you at the TANK museum during the golden week.

俞简 Jiji 

作为创作者，我拥有两种不同的身份。我是一名艺术家，利用电子元件和LED创造可穿戴服饰和电动雕塑。同时我也与巴斯夫，一家化学公司下的创意中心合作，开发与用户互动的硬件，并进行概念实现。

当我第一次编写程序并控制LED灯光的闪烁时，节奏性的灯光交替变化，仅仅改变几位数字就能够重新布置灯光图案，每一个图案组合又给人以全新不同的感受。这样的步骤有点像在绘画过程中打底稿的时候，对不满意的构图用画笔涂抹过后再重新覆盖。这给当时主要以油画和雕塑创作为主的我极大的触动，我现在以电子为媒介的创作便是一直在寻找我第一次对LED心动的感觉。

As a creator, I align with two different identities. I am an artist, and I make wearable items and electrical sculptures using hardware and LEDs. At the same time, I have been collaborating with BASF, a chemical company, and working with their creation center to explore interactive hardware and concept realization.

When I wrote my first program and successfully controlled the blinking pace of LEDs, I observed the sequence of its patterns and noticed how changes of a few digits can make huge differences in the light pattern, and every different pattern emits vastly different emotions. Such a process has similarities to when I paint on canvas with oil, I can smear over paint marks and start over. Creating my first program brought huge influence to me back then, who mainly painted and constructed sculptures. My current projects based on electrical components are constant pursuits of that very first excitement when I first successfully controlled LEDs.

作品以诙谐，荒诞的方式来体现个人所经历当代生活的困境和感悟。用“玩”的方式拒绝既定的规则，重新和这个世界建立起一种私人的联系，不断模糊生活与艺术之间的界线。

一个完整能够运转的电路必须正负极相通。将本来应该编写程序的方式，转变成金属球接触电路板表盘从而连通电路一一触发各种电子器件。本应藏在黑色芯片里的魔术被最直接的物理方式取代。让我们回到最简单的方式，将复杂的程序步骤拆解成一个又一个零散的部件。电流，马达，每个元件独立等待金属球的指挥，再现一个我们既熟悉又陌生的现代生活原理。

As an artist, Umin concerns about blurring the boundaries between art and life. She abstracts our emotions from real-life experiences, which are private but also ubiquitous since they are the production of our age. She strives for creating a moment of silent reflection in our overwhelming life. 

A fully functional circuit must be connected to both positive and negative terminals. Instead of writing a program, the metal ball touches the circuit board dial to connect the circuit and trigger various electronic devices. Magic that should be hidden in black chips is replaced by the most direct physical means. Let's go back to the simplest way of breaking down complex procedural steps into discrete parts. Electric current, motor, and each component independently await the command of the metal ball, reproducing a principle of modern life that we are both familiar with and unfamiliar with.

我的主要创作媒介是家具和交互科技，近期在学习制作模拟合成器，也在用滑板做家具。和电子与滑板磨合了一个月，在过程中也逐渐明晰了自己共通的创作逻辑，即先充分了解原料和工具，用手思考，和人相处，和环境相处，再造出物体。

电子元件一直直觉地吸引我，学习和制作电路板对我来说，是去解码黑匣子。去理解集成芯片、电容、二极管、晶体管以及能量在其中的流动，再编码去让这流动发生。解码和编码的过程是去魅且又增魅的，因为科技在今天是魔法，而大多数人边挥舞着手中的魔法棒边没有意识到这件事。

这次我用印刷电路板做模拟电路模块合成器，电路板本身成为合成器。演奏者仍然通过合成器上的旋钮和跳线来操作，但电子元件暴露其外，所有电流和声音震荡即发生于这些裸露的电子器件和线路中。

I am a maker working with furniture and creative technology. My recent work involves creating analog synthesizers and making furniture out of skateboards. Having closely worked with electronics and skateboards for a month helped shed some light on my approach to creation, that is, to fully understand materials and tools, to think by hand, and to get along with people and the environment. 

I have a fascination with electronics by intuition. The process of making circuit boards, for me, was to decode the black box. Firstly understand integrated chips, capacitors, diodes, transistors, and the flow of energy within them, and then manipulate the energy. It is both disenchantment and enchantment when decoding and encoding. Since today, technology is our magic and most people take it for granted. 

In the practice of Weak Current Manufacturing Co. Ltd, I made analog modular synth out of printed circuit boards. PCB itself becomes the interface of the synthesizer. One still operates through knobs and pedal cables but in the naked synth with electronics exposed where the oscillations occur.

弱电工程是宋淳，黄越敏，和俞简以印刷电路板为基础媒介，进行绘画，声音，动力等方向的探索。电路板作为功能部件，隐藏在有设计感的工业外壳之内。在多样的产品外壳之下，电路板分享着共通的原理，这个功能性的部件把幻想拆分成逻辑步骤，分解成遵循物理定律的半导体控制系统。

Weak Current Manufacturing Co. Ltd. is a factory established in Shanghai. It currently hires three employees: Jiji, Song, and Umin. Since the factory’s establishment in 2021, Weak Current Manufacturing has been committed to the research and development of specialized electronic equipment via their unique core technology. Concentrated in meeting clients’ needs, their diverse technology solutions have been highly rated by their partners across industries.

This will be Weak Current Manufacturing’s initial show at Tank art festival, and hereby they present the “Weak Current Engineering” exhibition. They gladly look forward to our familiar and new clients, and they will present the latest generation of technology innovation at tbooth A18.

Song, Umin, and Jiji explore painting, sound, and kinetics in the practice of Weak Current Engineering, using printed circuit boards as media. Circuit boards are common features underneath diverse product enclosures. This functional piece breaks down fantasies into logical steps, into semiconductor control systems that obey the laws of physics.
