Editor's Note
"The next station is, Computown."
Hearing the broadcast again, we felt as though we had gone back to the golden days when we first enrolled in CCNU. How time flies! Now, graduates of 2022 have ended their journeys in CCNU and are ready to fly high in the future!
Numerous stories about dreams happen in CCNU. Now, let's have a look at some excellent graduating students' experiences, and their inspiring spirits.
PART 1 The pendulum of thought
never stops.
Kang Xiaotian, a student from the School of Politics and International Studies, also a recommend graduate student to Renmin University of China, once received Boya Silver Laurel Scholarship and gained the School-merit Student title.
He is a core member of the basketball and football team which won the third place in the 2022 Wenhua Basketball Cup. He is also the champion of 1500 meter race in CCNU's Sports Race and the Minister of Sports Department. Additionally, he's capable of playing the violin well.
During the interview, he is serious, but also humorous and cute.
When talking about how to go through the transition from senior high school to university, he suggested that we should cultivate critical thinking which could help us handle many tricky problems. Life in senior high school might be boring and rigid while you have more freedom at university. If you set a certain goal, you can expand your interest in depth.
Let's see what he said when he was asked about his attitude towards "involution", a buzzword meaning a kind of irrational or involuntary competition.
"I always have faith, love and impulse in life, and this kind of life is meaningful," he said.
He researches on political philosophy but he doesn't limit himself in theory study rigidly. Aiming at using what he learns to respond to the problem of our times, he always analyzes the society and the issues of practical concerns critically.
PART 2 Unearth your potential
through various experiences.
Viktor Voskoboinikov, a graduate of the School of Chinese Language and Literature.
He is majoring in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. During his four-year university life, he has been actively involved in various activities and gotten many meaningful experiences. For example, he was elected as the director of the Russian Section in 2018 Cultural Festival of CCNU. In 2019, he engaged in a large-scale poetry concert held by Hubei TV station, and performed in the recital "A Love Letter to Wuhan" of "Shine with The Motherland—Poetic Wuhan".
He is not only the pioneer for the "Chinese Corner", but also the host of graduation ceremonies of CCNU for many times. In 2022, he participated in filming the video "Together for a Shared Future", the promotional video for the Winter Olympic Games. He considered all of these experiences as opportunities to improve eloquence and interpersonal skills.
"Those extracurricular activities are the most memorable parts of my campus life, although there were some challenges. During these four years, I learned not only curriculum lessons but also many lessons about life. I have also realized what I am capable of and where I want to go. I will treasure all the memories of CCNU and look forward to a successful future," he said.
PART 3 Debating with me,
I'd rather be me.
Zhang Yujiu, a graduate who has a double degree with Education and History, is an excellent debater and is the vice-captain of CCNU's debate team.
He was awarded the champion title in the International Debate Invitational Tournament of 2020 Tidal Cup in Hubei division, Wuhan division of 2019 World Mandarin Debating Championship and Chinese Debate World Cup and so on.

Besides the glorious achievements in debate, he also has wide interests. He is keen on board games and has participated in the photography group of Huada Guisheng, Model United Nation Association, Home of Xin Xinhuo Voluntary Teaching and Model United Nation Association.
"Break boundaries, communicate and remain pure," he described his college life in CCNU with these phrases. As for breaking boundaries, he believes that life is about extending the boundaries of cognition. Accordingly, he has joined a variety of clubs and associations to try something new. And his active participation in debate reflects more communication. Lastly, remaining pure is to find something that you love and keep doing what you love.
"Looking back on my college life, what I did seems to be unrelated, like my second major History. However, there is a general orientation that both Education and History are in the domain of humanities and social sciences."
When it came to his story of meeting "debate", he said, "I came across debate when I was a freshman in high school. I prefer to consider debate as a special tool. It helps us to learn more about the world, and trains our ability to communicate with people."

"Do what you love," he recommended, "and focus on the process rather than the results."
"CCNU brought me the faith in the strength of sensibility, in other words, the strength of love. People and things in CCNU changed my previous thought that logic was superior to emotion. Now, I think it’s love and emotion that motivate our deeds and logic is what we use to explain them. I will hold this kind of love to embrace the society, the nation, and the whole world," he said.
PART 4 Raising my sail
for entrepreneurship.
Lan Yuxin, a graduate of the School of Economics and Business Administration majoring in International Economics, has won the first place in the major with comprehensive credits for three consecutive years. Now, she has been recommended to Beijing Normal University.
She has won National Scholarship, Boya Golden Laurel Scholarship, and many honorary titles of School-merit Student Model, School-innovation Youth Advanced Individual and so on.
In terms of discipline competitions, she won the second prize in the Challenge Cup National Competition, the second prize in the Youth Provincial Competition and the Internet plus Industry Track Provincial Competition. She also started her own company to carry out entrepreneurial practice in Shiyan City.
She has taken part in many volunteer teaching activities. And her total voluntary hours have reached 350 hours. She said: "College is a crucial time for young people to shape their values. We leave the ivory tower and apply our knowledge to practice. Voluntary activities give us the most intuitive view of the current situation of our society and a deeper understanding of our responsibilities."
"Generally speaking, we need to keep up with our teachers in class and do more exercises after class. And it's also important to foster love in our majors," she shared the experience that contributed to her excellence.
The prominent aspect of Lan Yuxin is her innovation ability and entrepreneurship. She is a legal representative of a company. "To begin with, determining the topic and paying attention to the overall policy orientation of the country are the fundamental parts. Then you need to choose the entry point according to the policy to determine the research direction. You can’t neglect the significance of cooperation between members and advisors," she poured her feelings and skills into the innovation competition.

"Adjust your attitude. There will always be setbacks and difficulties and we will receive pressure from many sides. Sometimes it's better to accept than complain, since complaints won't change anything and will only make us annoyed. Besides, failure is not horrible and it’s just where we get back on our feet," she said to younger students.
PART 5 Our story continues in CCNU.
Ishova Dilber from Turkmenistan, is a graduate student majoring in the School of Psychology in CCNU.
She made her four years' college life colorful and meaningful. By joining "Yang Lei Feng" Volunteers Association, she made friends with many Chinese people and helped to build the community. Besides, she participated actively in a wide range of activities and competitions. Last year, she won the competition "China and Me, Five Years from Now".
This year, she took part in the "Chucai" Writing Competition and won the second prize. Graduation is around the corner, and let's see what she wants to share about graduation and the future.
"When I came to CCNU, I was wondering what would be waiting for me. As I started my study, I found that the students and teachers here were so friendly. When we participated in different kinds of activities, I could feel their warmth and friendliness, which made me feel delighted and had a sense of belonging in CCNU," she shared her most impressive experience in CCNU.
She added, "Though I am graduating, my heart is closely linked to CCNU. I can hear a voice from my heart that asking me to stay longer. Through three years of study, I also want to say to myself that don't give up when you face obstacles, and keep learning."

The story between her and CCNU won't end, since she plans to apply for a master's degree in CCNU, hoping to broaden her knowledge and help people solve their mental problems. "To contribute something useful to society," she said.
PART 6 Embrace the future,
in pursuit of dreams.
Jiang Yu, an undergraduate majoring in Japanese in the School of Foreign Languages in CCNU, is going to be a postgraduate in Peking University in September.
During her four years in CCNU, Jiang Yu said she met a lot of lovely and thankworthy friends and teachers. With their guidance, she spent a rich, meaningful and happy college life. With their support, she actively participated in various competitions, bravely applied for her favorite university for further study, and overcame challenges one after another.
When talking about the first day she came to CCNU, Jiang Yu still remembered everything clearly. "It rained heavily that day. My dad and I sheltered from the rain for a while in Qinyuanchun, and then we went to my dormitory. My roommates were a little different from what I had imagined, but we soon got to know each other very well."
"My first three years in CCNU is very uneventful. I didn’t take part in student work and I just immersed myself in the study every day and improved myself step by step. Also, I participated in different competitions, first in English competitions, then in Japanese ones. I learned a lot from the process," she said.
She has determined to try her utmost to be a translator, "I have chosen translation as my postgraduate major and I hope I can work towards this direction in the future. Although the job prospect for translators is not very good now and I am a little confused about my future, I still want to do my best in Japanese translation."
She added, "I am very grateful for everyone I met in CCNU. I remember we stayed up late to do group work, watched movies together on rainy days, stretched after studying in the library, went to Wuhan University to see cherry blossoms, and strived to become better together. It is because of them that I am who I am today. There is too much to say, but the most I want to say is 'thank you' and I will miss you all."
PART 7 Find passion
in literature and student work.
Yang Fengyuan, standing the first place in her major -- Chinese Language and Literature, has been recommended to pursue her further study in CCNU. She was awarded many titles, such as "Normal Activist", "Excellent League member", "Merit Student" and so on. Holding the post of the president of the student union in non-normal class of 2018 in Faculty of Arts, she won many prizes in the scientific research competitions like excellent Class for A project of National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program for College students. She also won "Advanced Individual of Activities of Training of Professional Teaching Ability and Competitions" and other teaching competition awards.
Concluding from her various experiences, she said, "It’s crucial to adjust our state timely. I don't think it’s possible to always maintain a good mood. Every time you feel stressed, it's better to relax your mind in a personal way rather than put all the pressure on yourself. We can also get positive feedback from recording daily life and conclusion. In short, only by keeping a good state can we do better in study."
"Besides learning, reading in the library for no utilitarian purpose enables me to immerse myself in books. Exercising and chatting with friends are my little happiness in daily life."
When graduation season came, different graduates have different lifestyles and choices to seize their last precious time. "Being busy with my thesis and the defense enriches my final college life. Moreover, there exists more free time for me to arrange: doing some teaching design, reading books and exercising…I'd like to cherish the precious time to create good memories with my friends," she said.
She'd like to claim that everyone has his or her own way to go, so there is no unsolicited advice. Others' experience is just a reference. It's you who use your standard of values to make choices and decide which path to take. Only after you go through the chosen way can you know the final result. So just believe in your own options and shoulder the responsibilities to strive for an ending that you will not be regretful for. But remember, no one can avoid making mistakes.
PART 8 Embellish college life with
"just do it".
Zhang Yawen, a graduate of the School of Chinese Language and Literature, majors in Chinese International Education. But now she has chosen to teach Japanese and is determined to devote herself to language teaching.
"I still remember that the first day was rainy and I needed to carry two big pieces of luggage on my own, covering a really long walk from the school gate to my dormitory. But luckily, a senior student helped me carry it and she also took me to buy some daily necessities. That was really helpful, and I'm still moved when I think of it now. This may be my first bond with CCNU," she said.
Having obtained a diving certificate, dietitian certificate, French and Portuguese related qualification certificates and some others related to her major, she wants to go further in the research of language in the future. "When you really master some skills, the satisfaction and happiness were beyond words," she said.
She never limited herself, participating in opera troupe, playing Ancient Pipa, attending painting competitions…
"I think a full college life should be one in which academic and extracurricular activities go hand in hand. I have always advocated that spiritual life is as important as material life. That's what I've been doing in my four years' college life. Pursue what you love freely. There is only one time for college life, you can try as much as you can," she suggested.
Four years ago, hello, CCNU!
