New Achievement in Spreading of Insecticidal Pesticide
Editor's Note
Recently, Professor Li Haibing's research team from the College of Chemistry of CCNU has made great progress in the field of dynamic spreading of insecticidal pesticides. Relevant research was published in ACS (Agricultural Science & Technology), an authoritative journal in the field of agriculture with Professor Li Haibing as the corresponding author. The first author of the paper is Zhang Huijuan, a postgraduate in the College of Chemistry.

As the top priority in state governance, maintaining food security is indissolubly wedded to the scientific utilization of pesticides. The retention of pesticide droplets on superhydrophobic plant leaves, which is the mainstream of pesticide research and development, is of great significance for improving the utilization rate of agrochemicals and reducing pesticide waste and environmental pollution.
Professor Li Haibing and his team have developed new supramolecular spreaders that can promote the spread and deposition of pesticide droplets on hydrophobic plant leaves. Recently, with the support of the project of the national key research and development program of "Key Scientific Issues of Transformative Technology" ------"Basic Research on Superspreading Droplet Control Technology for Efficient Pesticide Utilization" (2021YFA0716702), the research team revealed that the droplets of carbosulfan and pillararene were co-spread on superhydrophobic wheat through host-guest affinity. Compared with the blank control group, the retention of droplets spreading was increased by 62%, and the reduction of pesticides and the enhancement of efficacy were realized. This study proposes an innovative method to achieve the retention of pesticide droplets on superhydrophobic plant leaves.
